Help with my gsf 400v

Post by Ashhleygsf400 » Sun Dec 23, 2018 6:00 pm

I have just bought a 1995 gsf 400v gray import. It's in very good shape for it's age. I am totally new to the gsf400 platform and need help.
Firstly I am missing a part that I think is the cdi but am not positive

This is under the seat right behind the air box.
I have been searching and can only find gsxr 12pin cdi that looks anything like it.

Any help would meen alot to me
Thanks
Ash

First off Welcome to the form Second...does your Bandit have a RED valve cover? I have parts for a '91 that may work.

Judging from that connector plug picture you posted it looks like you're working with a 1997 GSF400VV.

The GSF400VV is the only GSF400 model that uses a single plug connector for its Ignitor Unit. Here's a screen-shot from the model-differences section of the GSF400 Service Manual which is specific to the '97 GSF400VV model.

And... I did a quick search and here's an Ebay (china) listing for a replacement Ignitor Unit: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/CDI-ECU-Derestr ... :0&vxp=mtr

Good luck with the Bandit.

All the vvc models have a single connection at the cdi and you need to know the year and model for replacement as they changed the engine to variable inlet cam only, inlet and exhaust on early one.
