Re: Project A&E / OCD
Looks like your gonna need the work on the box or that 6 speed kit of awesomeness to stop it being held flat stick for too long on some tracks.
This would be a weapon on brands indy it would annihilate a nc. Not with me on board though i get vertigo sat up that high.

Re: Project A&E / OCD
Well tonight i had a couple of hours spare so did the following
Cleaned off the excess ACF50 and had a general wipe down.
Cleaned up the rear wheel, spaced out the rear sprocket 2mm and fitted the OE rear disk - and fitted the wheel
Removed the front 13 tooth sprocket and fitted the 14. i was surprised to see the 15 could actually squeeze in there but would rub some of the swingarm guard slightly. i may replace the guard with a none OE item and trim it down a bit. a 15 tooth front could actually sort much of the gearing issues i am going to have and save me a lot of money and hassle with primary gears.
Fitted the rear enduro mudguard with LED brake lights and aftermarket side panel plastics.
Take a look at the mintyness of this bike, it almost seems just wrong to rag it around a track being so clean.

Re: Project A&E / OCD
Well i have spent quite a few hours pottering in the garage working on the bike, stripping it, building it, wiring it, cleaning it.
The bike is now at an advanced stage and about as far as i can go personally before it goes off for the custom pipe and primary gears made and fitted.
So with the bike stripped it was of course soaked in ACF50 and left to go everywhere making for a slippy floor and everything coated in a mist of oily residue. All of the excess was cleaned off and bits started to get bolted back on.
First thing was the side stand - having the box lift stand is ok for some jobs but a pain in the arse when you want to wheel it around a bit or work on the right hand side of the bike.
Replaced the front sprocket with the 14 tooth item, i did offer the 15 up and it fits, however the case saver would be removed and i am not happy about the risk this brings to the engine cases.
Rear wheel fitted and chain fitted. Rear sprocket was spaced 2 mm and it made a bit of a difference to be honest, another 1mm would be preferable to clear the tyre
Front wheel fitted, speedo sensor refitted and old fork guards (already cut to fit)
JB Racing ECU fitted and map switch.
Megahorn fitted - fuck me it's loud. needed for an MOT
Aftermarket Enduro rear plastics fitted and seat unit.
Brake banjo switches fitted and brakes bled.
Now here was the time consuming bit, i made a simple wiring loom to give me both power and back light for the clocks, but with front and rear brake light switches and the LED brake light - it all runs from the self generated power so no need for a battery or extra hassle.
The best bit was to test it, and to test the loom worked it would of course mean the bike needed to be fired up. This was the first time it has been run in many years so after a couple of litres of premix chucked in to the bone dry tank i thought i was in for a bit of a battle.
How wrong it was, 3 kicks (1 kicked me back) and it fired and ran and settled down right away. Even better was my delight to see the dashboard light up and the brake lights working on either brake - happy fucking days.
So after thinking i should have checked if there was actually water and oil in the bike first i stopped the motor - and sure enough there was, fresh oil and nice green coolant.
So there was are. Most of the bike is done for now and it's ready for it's MOT tomorrow so wish me luck
Left to do
Register the bike. NOVA number granted, Dating certificate on the way, MOT tomorrow - all being well i could be riding this on the road soon
Make another loom based on this for the other bike (the 03 model) and clean this one up a little bit.
get the new Aim MYCHRON 5 dashboard and get ready for a EGT sensor.
Get the new exhaust system made and routed under the bike to suit
Custom primary drive gears to allow a higher top speed and more choice on the rear sprockets to suit.
a few cosmetic bits and bobs to assist riding on the road
And now for the pics - we all like pictures - hope you enjoy looking as this as much as i do.

Re: Project A&E / OCD
just a thought, you don't need to insure the bike now to get the V5, I have just done the same process with mine and nil insurance required, which is strange as you pay the registration fee and the years tax.....all without valid insurance on the bike.
£93 I think the fee was

Re: Project A&E / OCD
really ? well that would help no end. once i got a reg i could insure them far easier.
i will try that - worst that happens is they get knocked back isnt it.
I know the 01 is deemed the best motor with its powervalve and simplicity, but its the styling i am a sucker for and the 03 onwards just does it for me looks wise. the frame is a work of art.

Re: Project A&E / OCD
Paul I'm not sure if this will help you with the gearing situation but I had a highly tuned mid ninetys CR 250 engine fitted in a Cagiva Mito chassis for racing in the Bemsee Singles class many years ago, I obviously needed to sort the gearing out cheaply so contacted B &C Express.
I asked for a much smaller rear sprocket that fitted a Mito wheel, a guy phoned me back asking why I needed a sprocket so far outside the normal range and that the bike would never pull that gearing, I explained what I was doing and he was very interesting in it. They made me a couple.of sprockets for not much money that worked very well, ( much cheaper than a new gearbox! )
The bike would piss past 125 GP bikes down the straight at Snetterton at 130mph? No problem.
It might be worth trying this for £50 odd quid before blowing loads on a new box. You just have to watch the chain run doesn't foul anything.
