Rear shock reviews and feedback

Just want to get some food for thought.
i have been riding with the cbr600 rr shock rejigged for myself and have found it pretty good... but no benchmark to compare it to.

I was thinking of going to standard (sending it away to be serviced first)

Just want feedback on any of the below shocks
nitron r1
bmw s1000rr
Maxton
and in particular hyperpro sport

i have an 89 shock in a bike and its very harsh, not smooth and very choppy over bumps.
I have a hyperpro race in another bike and its really something else its got high speed and low speed compression, rebound and preload,smooth as silk ,floats down the road like a magic carpet but its got too many adjustments, far too easy to get lost making clicks here and clicks there,and ruining the ride.
for the £650 price tag it had ( some 9 years ago I think) I could buy a nitron for half of that and still have an improved ride over the 89 shock.

this whole thread seems pretty pointless.

unless you get somebody who has used your shock as well as their aftermarket one then how do you know how good their good is compared to your good?

What one person things is great is turd to another.

I suggest instead you try and locate somebody close to you who has a different shock you are interested in on their bike and see if you can take it for a test ride / let them try yours and compare notes / make up your own mind.

Where are you riding this bike too? On the road pretty much anything is fine, lot of people get overly concerned about their suspension when they are not really using it.

Making sure whatever shock you have in is setup properly will make the most difference, even the best shock with bad preload and damping settings wont perform well as a good setup lesser able shock
