CMS Parts?
Hi guys,
Any good or bad moments on CMS (www.cmsnl.com) parts? I am rebuilding an NC30 and want to get a new rear wheel bearing (with the attached seal) and they seem to be about the only place I can find that sells them though they are not original Honda. Any advice welcome, especially if you know where I can get original Honda parts from instead!
Cheers
Dave

Re: CMS Parts?
I placed a nearly £1000 order with them once. After a little delay I received only £200 worth of kit and a refund for £800. Apparently they will let you order anything even if they know they haven't got it and wont get it or cant get it. I later discovered that what I got was all still available from Yamaha new in the UK. I could have ordered it from my local dealer. In other words complete waste of time using them.

Ah very interesting! That's good to know I think I will look a bit harder into finding some original Honda parts before ordering from them!
Many Thanks

Re: CMS Parts?
If you get the part numbers from cmsnl then see if david silver spares can get them. Or drop Rick Oliver an email he can get pretty much all the OEM parts at good prices.
An NC is for life, not just for Christmas!

Re: CMS Parts?
Have you tried David Silvers, they have a lot of new old stock forsale and obsolete parts, Rick O on here can get you anything still available from Honda and maybe even things that aren't so both worth chasing up.skinnydog0_0 wrote:If you get the part numbers from cmsnl then see if david silver spares can get them. I do have to wonder where / how hard you looked though as rear wheel bearings are availbel most places, especially copy kits even on ebay uk..

Re: CMS Parts?
I used CMS without significant issue. it would seem that they are a group of companies who stock spares and therefore some of the stuff isn't on their own shelves but that of another member of the group. Hence why you could order something that later turns out to be out of stock. I ordered about £200 of random bits and most were shipped immediately. A few bits were backordered, and as the wait was three weeks, I assume they came from Honda in Japan as that's the sort of lead time some stuff from DSS can have if they don't have any to hand.
As for them charging Dutch sales tax (VAT), well, that's the law. Same as in the UK. Both CMS and DSS list ex-VAT prices, although CMS don't give a post-tax price until you look in your basket. I went to CMS because at the time, it worked out about £40 cheaper after shipping for the bits I wanted. However, the exchange rate has worsened, and also Dutch VAT was 18% then (I think), and it's now 21%.

Re: CMS Parts?
I coincidentally placed an ordered with CMS about a day before this thread got started!Since I was ordering from outside the EU, I didn't get VAT added to the final order.
I have only ordered from them once before - when David Silver's listed the part as discontinued, CMS had stock and they arrived without any dramas I seem to recall. Same reason I placed the order the other day. Sometimes though I wonder if it is just the parts system. For instance, a sump gasket for an NC30 is listed as discontinued but an identical NC35 sump gasket is available. I wonder if CMS's system take that into account and offers you the NC35 replacement whereas David Silver's does not?

I used them for an original Lhs switchgear set. Unavailable elsewhere, wasn't cheap, but arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Would use again, no question.

Re: CMS Parts?
I ordered a thermostat and rad cap for my NSR125r JC20, both items discontinued by Honda and not available at David Silver. A week later I got refunded and explained that the parts had been discontinued but to check back as they may get some soon.
Ended up buying a 2nd hand thermostat while I managed to find one it was in some country I couldn't pronounce and had a 30 day delivery. I bought a rad cap from a local motorfactor once I'd done some research and found the size and pressure was the same as some cars from the 70s and more important a Range Rover V8 so I bought it for £1.98 instead of £40 odd that some other firms wanted.
Both worked a treat but didn't cure the new piston and barrel it required

Re: CMS Parts?
Yes maybe i should have clarified that more but there is nothing wrong with them charging you tax but like you mentioned it isn't shown until you tally up the total cost.speedy231278 wrote:

If they have parts you cant get from elsewhere then I would have no issue using them as I have used them many times before and they offer a standard professional business service.
The point is that the part in question is avaiablly locally in the uk much cheaper and there are other uk based sellers taht are worth checking with first before going overseas...
