Rusty discs and oil leaks

Discs are rusty on my latest acquisition. Bike has been stood for a bit. Bit of wire wool to salvage them?

Also, my frame and other metal work is oxidised - what would the best thing to clear that up be? I don't want a shiny, polished frame, just to remove the crap.


And lastly, but perhaps most severely, I have an oil leak. Or several. Proving a pita to conclusively discover where it's coming from.

The rocker cover is definitely leaking. The back face of the rear cylinders is nice and juicy, however it is the right hand side of the bike that seems coated in oil. I am not certain a leaking rocker would necessarily deposit oil down the right side of the engine, over the gen cover, water pump and bottom of the sump. Maybe it would but that seems too simple.

I am tending to think there is another leak. Where the water pump housing joins the crank there was a milky white residue with the leaked oil, which led me to believe maybe that was leaking?

What is the best way to pinpoint the problem area? I drained the oil and there is a slight misting in it, but nothing much. The bike has been stood for a year so that could be condensation I am thinking.

They aren't that clear. The oil looks worse in the pic than in real life and the oil leak looks worse in the flesh.

Rusty discs = use the brakes, that'll clean them up.

Scratched aluminium = scotchbrite pads to clean them up and get the factory brushed look back.

Oil leak = clean the engine of all traces of oil (on the outside of course) then ride bike for 10 miles and inspect. It'll be easier to see where it's coming from.

For the discs it would do no harm giving them a quick skim with da sander and medium pad too.
