Thanks for the reply, I'm in the UK and those Ventura racks are expensive https://www.ventura-bike.co.uk/fitments ... nc_31.aspx
They emailed me back the other day and it worked out over £150
I've been googling and found that the Givi 241F monorack arms fit and that's a third of the price

Re: cb400sf nc31 top box rack / luggage rail
A follow-up on my original post back in 2013... I found a locally made top-box base which is off the same blue-print as the factory specs etc.
I'll send some pics soon...
Haven't been on my bike since January 2015 as the result of an accident with a taxi.
The bike is officially written-off but actually I'm currently breathing life back into the bike as the frame was not damaged so much.
Now as I have had the inevitable accident, the slow-motion flight was quite the experience...
Only significant negatives for me were losing my bike as a practical mode of daily transport... losing my confidence to be on the same road as taxi drivers who like to do sudden U-turns in front of oncomeing traffic... the five months I spent with a moon boot in pain due to the broken small bone beneath my right ankle...
...it could have been worse... it could have been much worse...
Photos soon
Cheers

I broke two of those Ventura racks. They are not designed for a top box & intended to carry a pair of waterproofs at best . Webike in Japan has quite a few carriers but mainly for NC39/42's.

That's good to know as my wife uses a large capacity twin helmet sized Givi normallycb400f1 wrote:I broke two of those Ventura racks. They are not designed for a top box & intended to carry a pair of waterproofs at best . Webike in Japan has quite a few carriers but mainly for NC39/42's.
I'll go for those Givi bars and top plate

Re: cb400sf nc31 top box rack / luggage rail
OK all sorted now
Givi 241F arms for a '95 CB500
Givi M3 top plate
Givi Maxia topbox
You have to make slots in the plastic seat undertray to make the arms line up correctly with the holes
