The rear wheel bearings are wiggling a bit, I asked the tester to show me.
The front wheel bead is obviously something I cannot ever escape as it's a different front wheel....


Then I went out on the busy bypass to start scrubbing the tyres in. The difference in grip is amazing.

My old mis-matched tyres really were shit. The new forks with Rick O's kit has transformed the front end, so much smoother and I finally have full confidence in the front end. Just the rear still feels a bit vague with the shitty original shock on there still....

Looks really nice. There's something sweet about freshly powdered white wheels on an NC isn't there.

I need to refresh the suspension on my VFR as it's all too soft and squishy. I was thinking of just sending the rear shock off to be referbed rather than buying something nice as it's going to be a lot cheaper. However I would quite fancy a nice Nitron nestling away under the back there lol

The front will get the Rick O treatment.

The Rick O fork kit really is worth it, front end feels totally different. But as you say the rear needs to match, which is where I'm tempted to splash out even more on a nitron......

I've got his kit in the forks of my RVF and I'm using a Maxton in the back of that as well but I've yet to ride it so don't know how good it is yet.

Small update, it was oil change day today and I also gave the bike a through clean, check over and service. Not sorted the Angel eye problem I have (they aren't working anymore), but I have contacted a seller on eBay who has a angel eye kit for the R1 listed as heat resistant to see if he has/can do anything.



Also earlier today coming home from work I managed to scrape my sidestand flying round the slip road coming off the A1. As I didn't think I was leant over that far (probably furthest I've been so far though :D ) I investigated and realised that the clearance wasn't so great so dremelled down the sidestand bit thingy a bit more.





Bike should be all good for Cadwell soon, might even have a Nitron shock for it if I can resist spending money on the BMX

So available time to work on the bike is now a lot longer due to it having an electrical mis-hap just coming off the A1 a week ago tonight, then me finally forking out for a car I don't really want but know I need.....

Anyway, electric mis-hap turned out to be the generator wires had been slowly cut by the rotor because they had slipped from behind the metal bracket keeping them from harm causing this mess.





Got all that cleaned up and re-wired, ordered a new gasket and fitted it back on tonight.

Also ordered a new sidestand rubber as mine made a bid for freedom in Louth while at Cadwell, 6 speedo bulbs (3 for spares) as I could hardly see my speedo at night and the tacho was dim too, 3 more oil filters and got a new seat lock from MattUKNC to replace the one that buggered off whilst riding to work. Matt also sent me the retaining clip thing that I didn't have before so thanks for that Matt, your a star!

Had to hammer the shit out of the old sidestand rubber to get it out, took bloody ages and had to zip-tie the sidestand to the abba stand.





Also had to re-position my exhaust, as after dropping the bike in Cadwell's carpark the sidestand was hitting it again....

Bike is now back to usual work duties for days where it's above 5 degrees C and not lagging it down! Plus the good weekend blasts for when I'm not riding BMX.

So small update to start the ball rolling on this again.

The poor bike has been sat in the garage since late November, only coming out for a warm up every now and then, so it's time for some love.

Also the 929/SP1 calipers I put on a while ago have been sat in my room since late December waiting for some Japanese stainless steel which I got my mitts on yesterday. Photos of this shiny porn later as I have only just got a new cable for my phone.

Also I will finally be able to call my Ethos half system an Ethos again soon as it has been missing a sticker/badge for ages!

Another thing I haven't posted up either was that I changed the LED angel eyes to some CCFL rings as the LED ones were melted by my high beam, whoops. The CCFL are glass and have no plastic so hopefully they hold up well. Again, pictures to follow later.

Progress will be slower than before though as I have to fit a lot of fitness around my 9-5 as I should be joining the RAF in April, as long as my final interview goes well!

A few fancy things to come, but the bike will probably be lower on the list of my priorities for the next year or so.

Everybody loves pictures, so it's picture time!

It's my day off so I've spent most of it in the garage.

First off was to give the rear brake a good clean and swap the pad pin and bleed nipple for stainless items









Filthy it was. Then just a quick bleed after swapping the nipples over.



Then back on with the rear wheel and a fancy new POSH R-clip



I mentioned yesterday that I had been tinkering with my front brakes, so here's what I've been doing.

Full strip and clean in the seal grooves as they were binding slightly, yet they were pretty much clean......





Then some new caliper half bolts turned up, stainless steel to replace the originals of course.



The loosely back together to wait for some goodies from Japan.

Then earlier I fitted the calipers back on the bike and started my least favourite thing, twin 4 pot brake bleeding.





I hate bleeding the front brakes, it's a nightmare, and I'm still not convinced they're finished. Might just take it to the local garage and get them to have a try because I'm really not sure I've got all the air out. I can still pull the lever back to about 4mm away from the bar.
