46 47T rear sprocket on 3TJ

Post by rockTJ »

Hello

I am trying to find a 46 or 47T rear sprocket in 520 (or 525) for the 3TJ.

With my bulk on the bike it is topping out at 12000rpm in top  . With the current 15/44 gearing the (very newish) chain is almost at the back of the adjusters. Tyre is a Michelin pilot power 160/60 and not overly tall.

JT Sprockets seem to stop at 45, which I don't think will get me up to the red.

I have a 15T on the front and don't want to go down as I would defo have to start shortening the chain.

Other than fitting a 4JH wheel and a 530 chain..... what can be done?

TIA

Chris; are they the same fitment as the earlier models ?
Renthal
175-520-47HA .
alloy.

They most likely do this in steel also.
As you know; Kayla is a distributor

Here is a 46 Talon;

14 tooth front is too small a radius for chain durability..

Are you running a 525 set-up at present ?
A red box doth not a Snap On make.

Yep running a 5120 175-525-44 Renthal rear sprocket at the moment and the DID Xring 525 chain.

This being a project bike that I bought as a rolling heap, I had never ridden it before to get an idea of gearing etc.

Slowly getting round to sorting all the little bits now - next up is the gearing!

We can get Renthal alloy sprockets in various sizes *46/47t) if you need one but the largest steel one we can get is 45t. There's no need to use a 530 on the 3TJ, but if you did end up using a Foxeye wheel you can get 520 sprockets for it.

Give me a shout if you need anything, we'll be cheaper than B&C and most other places too.

I've got a 47tooth sprocket sat on my wall, was only used for mock up for my conversion then changed rear end so it's now surplus.

Pm me if interested.

Thanks StreetFZR, I have purchased that 46T talon sprocket. I will see how I get on with that and maybe get back to you.
