Koso clocks + restriction
Long story short, I fitted Koso clocks (spelling is wrong there) and put petrol in my bike which started to leak it all over the place, nice people came and took my bike to the garage and after a lot of work by them they got her working, but, I just rang them up and at 3k RPM it appears to hit the limiter (it's an NC29 btw).
I have the digital to analogue converter for the speedo cable which I thought removed the restriction, am I mistaken there? Is there anything else I need to do to remove the limiter as currently it appears the bike is running restricted. Could it be the digital console itself being set up incorrectly? Is there a quick (and simple, please, very simple...) way to remove the limiter?

The bike is not working and the CDI needs to see the Speedo..and you have take it off..
you'll need to be checking the forum for the correct wires to join/s;lice a resistor into to fool the CDI into thinking the speedo is still there.
Easy when you know how... Leopard Pagan knows..she doesn't post too much these days but check her posts or PM her.

Re: Koso clocks + restriction
i did check the google search before i posted the search key words... my old DIY instructions are still around
CM is correct... the CDI needs to "see" the restriction loop is still there, by removing the old speedo you have broken the loop = cant rev past 5K rpm or do over 30mph. you need to put that loop back in using the existing wiring you may have left behind the new speedo.. or you can create the loop where the CDI lives if you did cut away unused wiring.
dont post much as been so busy last few years & the "young uns' have it covered

Re: Koso clocks + restriction
Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay in replying! I'm really terrible at soldering, by terrible I mean so bad I'd probably set fire to the bike and burn down half of Cornwall, in fact I think my last attempt at soldering resulted in my iron breaking.
With that in mind, is it possible to use them little plastic clip things with the metal part, you know, can't remember what they are called but you connect them to two wires then use pliers to create a connection between the two wires by crushing the plastic bit which pushes the metal into the wires so creating a connecting, can you use two of them to connect the resistor wire to the CDI?
Basically, put one on to Blue/Orange, fit in a 2k... wire thing, put another on the Black/White, connect the 2k wire thing, crush the plastic... thing and create a connection, no soldering required?
I really can't remember what they are called, but they came with my digital console and allow you to create the connection between the wires, ah ha! Scotch Lock Wire Connectors Quick Splice Terminals Crimp (apparently).

Re: Koso clocks + restriction
you could use the blue clip jobs, could also twist the wires good n tight then wrap in electric tape.. BUT when the bike starts to show symptoms as you have now.. the wires come undone.
personally i hate those clip things.

Sweet, I'll order some wire and pray the rain goes away then get it done, then a quick blast up the A30 to make sure it's working :)

Re: Koso clocks + restriction
you'll know with it stood on side stand if it works or not..
not working if you cant REV past 5,000RPM... sounds like it goes flat
working if you can rev cleanly past 5K rpm.

Re: Koso clocks + restriction
Think fitting an ignitech cdi with HRC map negates the derestriction should you wish to spend some more money.
