Re: Voltage Regulator - Are they a weak point?
I did the upgrade to the newer and larger type. It was easy and there is a fellow on FZRarchives (DonTZ125)that sells an adaptor with a long grounding lead. Took minutes to do the swap. Figured for the $50 it cost me to do , it is peace of mind.

Hi Kirbster,
Did you mount yours in the same place as the original? It looks like there's plenty of room for it.

Re: Voltage Regulator - Are they a weak point?
Yes, I did but if you use both bolts the VRR may contact the plastics of the tail piece, So I used a single bolt in the left hole (with lockwasher) and rotated the VRR so the connector is at about 2 o'clock. Everything sits in there nice now with zero contact. The bolt i used is also very long so there is little risk of it dropping right out.

Re: Voltage Regulator - Are they a weak point?
I kept having a prob with mine boiling batteries. I did the manual checks and they were within the voltage ranges though. I was going through more money in batteries than petrol at one point ;oD.
I changed mine to a thundercat one and all is well now, so I would say yes the 600 one I had caused a problem even though it passed the official checks.... worth the piece of mind changing it imo

What you need is a Blue Point MT 130 ... even if you buy it from the USA they're worth it
