M-MAX Delimiters

Post by willandrip »

Can anyone state definitely that RR 3TJ and 3EN2 delimiters are the same fitment?
Same goes for Fzr 600 3HE and 3EN2 generator covers.
As always your replies are much appreciated.

Yes the delimiters are the same - however - if this is a road just fit a KMH to MPH mechanical converter. You'll be able to make sense of the speedo (rather than tyring to read it through a sticker) and the speed restriction will come in at 180mph rather than 112 (180kmh). You need a gold one that goes at the wheel end (not the blue one).
The 400 wires come out in a different place to the 600 - if yours is cracked or scratched it's probably best to fill it with liquid metal and use a power sander to shape it. Then spray it wheel paint.

Thanks Evilchicken0,(is it Boris?) for info on delimiter and converter.
I was going to go down the route of changing speedo to a mph one from another model but this may be a more complicated matter as some state deresticter goes behind clocks so clock wiring may be different on replacement speedo, whilst others state deresticter goes in line with harness and ecu unit therefor no wiring issues!

On the generator cover issue; if the wiring exits casing in a different place is it still feasable without a bodge?
New EOM generator casings for the 3EN2 seem to be still available from dealers and also Caviga996 has a 3HE one (for which I thank him very much for showing interest and helping).I was trying to avoid the JB Weld scenario as the crack is very deep and the Yamaha Logo virtually obliterated.Ditto the starter cover!
I also have the option of NRC covers for both sides from USA but as you know they cost the same as a replacement engine! Anyone with experience of these please chip in with your views.Especially fitting a 3HE starter cover.
I have tried to copy and paste and then post the above items web adresses but am unable-perhaps this site does not allow it?

Today,hopefully we will get the ancillaries off it and get it degreased and steam clean 23 years of muck off and see what we have to work with.(Only picked up yesterday)
Will try to post photos as developments occur!
As the tenth owner many parts are missing . There should be covers over the plastic false intake pipes but they are missing completely and I have no idea what they look like.I am currently using auction sites as a parts manual! Obviously you will be able to predict the results.Today will tell if there is a reserve fuel system similar to the FZR 1000R of which I have two,one completly stock and one a race bike.
The reason I puchased the 400 is the 1000s are impossible to ride flat out on local roads (South Northumberland/Durham border) where as my old TZ 350A twinshock can be taken out of retirement occasionally and given a good airing (Yes officer,we know its an offence.) but these old things are very expensive to maintain so I was hoping the 400 would fit the bill.
Perhaps I should be posting in the General section rather than Workshop but someone may advise!

Yes it's Boris
The 3he starter will fit and I think I've got one intake cover somewhere, they're hard to find I think there was one year fzr600 that had them but not to sure.
You can find some kind of manual on a cd off the usa bay, you want the California sac model

So you have other bikes then .... we'll be needing some pictures

Attention of Boris:Have opened photobucket account to try to post pics but when I try to copy and paste, it replies "Document not found". I cannot even copy and paste into my own browser.
If anyone is interested to view, all I can suggest is;
Go to photobucket.
Change search box options to user.
Enter willandrip.
Should open public album so you can view.
Will add as time allows'
If anyone can paste URL so it works then 10,000 shames on me!

Fzr 1000r 1989 stock colours and graffix. That horrible can is now replaced with stock silencer.This was an import with KPH clocks and to convert was a cheap and simple job of replacing the whole console.Was hoping to do the same with this;
http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p62 ... 501cd0.jpg

by replacing speedo head from a 3he. Is that possible by using a M-Max box?
Consise instructions may be required if there are numerous electrical issues!

Also is it possible to show pics directly rather than use links as I see most posts include them in that form.
Hope I'm not taking up too much space here so moving other bike pics to the general section!
