So why would you think this a problem with the starter? when you say its jamming this wouldnt happen to be after you've been turning it over for ages would it?xivlia wrote: the engine spins and spins, and doesnt fire up.

Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
no, im not spining it for ages, just a few times.. and bike doesnt start.. but most of the time, it just spins a few times and then jamms with a big clonk. and then i have move it back and forth to fix the jamming, and then try again... same thing happens... spins, a few times and then clonks :\ it cycles through like that... spins spins spins, clonk.... after a few 10 minutes..... spins spins spins... clonck etc etc..

Put a wrench onto the center nut on the starter clutch and turn the motor over by hand 5-10 times and see if it jams then.

As you have the clutch removed , why not disassemble it? Functioning correctly in your hand may not mean it works correctly under load.

Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
yes i got the funds and will put the starter clutch in the post first thing tomorrow morning.
as MAGG says, strip down the one you have and see if anything obvious is wrong.
you're getting another one so it won't matter if something goes wrong.
but still crank the engine over by hand,
i'm a bit concerned that there may be somthing a bit more sinister going on.
can you still start the bike by bumping it?
if so - when the engine does fire up does it run ok?
