Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
been at the workshop this eve helping my m8 start the wrap (well i say helping just hold the heat gun and provide a bit of chit chat as he goes ) made a good start, its quite a tricky process and aint as easy as it seems, its quite clear why the cost of a decent wrap job can cost from 300-500 quid.
i took some snaps but they were on me phone so not very good, its a nice finish i like it , its very very white, will get some better pics tomorrow as we move on with the wrap

Nice progress...you will be one of the 1st or The 1st with vinyl wrap on a V4 400..correct me if I'm wrong.
Does the panels need a prep before applying the vinyl wrap on it? BTW nice decals from Brooky!

the wrap is going over the factory gelcoat, i went over them with a very fine wet'n'dry 800-1200 grit just to take off any surface marks etc, then he uses a a soap solution to clean off the dust and then a pump bottle with some sort of alcohol in it to take off the greasy finger marks that might be left on the panels, he did say that really the panels should be glossed but he did a stick test a few weeks ago and the wrap has gone down fine
(no problems as yet )

Will the original graphics show through with raised edges on the tank?

possibly, will see after the wrap, however i have some tank wings the same size as the originals so should mask any raised bump

Re: Deviants nc30 strip and rebuild
little update on the bike , matey has been quite busy with paying customers , as soon as the sun comes out everyone wants there windows tinted so the wrapping has been put back a bit, until yesterday where i took over the wrap and had a go myself , now the whole front end is done and the verdict by the boss is its a top job, he was impressed ,
I put the graphics on the front end today, and soon ran in to probs, as im using tyga suzuka cowl and lowers and because of this the curves and cutouts in the bodywork it has been a right c**t , once the lettering swerves down the scoops it starts to look pissed, half of the lettering flows with the panel and the other half folds in down the scoops, but with a lot of head scratching its been sorted, some fine scalpel work and some fettling has fixed the pissed lettering, its not exactly 100% to the AM/PM rvf im aspiring too but it is as close as i can get considering im using totaly different bodywork and i think its looking pretty f'ing good so far,
(im not adding photos yet until the wrap is finished
)
its rest day tomoz then back in thursday to wrap the tank and seat unit if we have time, im hoping it should be all wrapped up by mid week next week , then pics to follow where you can all que up to rip holes in my hard work

look into my eyes not around my eyes look into my eyes 3,2,1 and your under, you are now in a hypnotic state so just totally forget about any AM/PM rvf you've ever seen and when you see my hash of a bike you'll think its the best AM/PM rep you've ever seen 3,2,1, your back in the room
