BAD DAY!!!!!!

Post by Jayuknc30 » Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:46 pm

Well guys took the nc for a mot on monday. only picked it up today due to crap weather all week, and took it back to work.

BUT!!! once i got back to work, my dad (who i work with) had a quick look around it and said.....(hope you guys sitting down)

how did you crack the front fairing????!!!! at this point my mouth dropped. crack about 4/5 inch long i think it will get bigger with riding vibrations etc,

point is i didnt do that crack, bike hasnt moved in 5 months in garage, the mot station didnt say anything but i no it happened there....

what do i do guys???? i cant prove this????

not much you can do really mate i think. problem you have here if you confront them they will simply deny it.
and it wont get the bike fixed.
bigger problem, if the bikes original and a UK spec bike then your buggered finding a new nosecone (assuming its a nose cone) i think. lowers are easier to come by or repair
can it repair do you think ? where is the crack ?

Drill a hole at the end of the crack to stop it spreading and whack some gaffa tape on for the mean time

grind the back and use plastex. if you're careful the good side won't be damaged, you'll have the crack, depends how bad it is. Plastic welding in my experience could damage the paint/decals and then it wll require a respray. depends how bad it is really.

if its just a long crack... as in no actual chunks have come off the fairing.. then just get fiber glass and some epoxy resin... lay a few sheets of fiber on the back side of the crack and resin it.... itl be harder than the original fairing if done correctly.... its what i did to my Suzuka front fairing when i bought it from Riley.. there was a small crack on under the mirror mounting point and now its rock solid ;)
