RGV/RS Tyga seat unit on a NC35?

Post by Mobile Chicane »

I want to fit a nice simple smooth RS250/RGV250 unit on the rear of my RVF (it's for a race bike so any damage has to be easily repairable which means smooth simple designs).

Anyone had any experience or seen any evidence that these units fit? I can make brackets up, but my main concern is the width of the waist of the seat. Any help much appreciated!

Nice. It has been done before with an RGV250 fairing on a NC35...

I believe the owner of that track RVF posted here also, maybe do a search (see the search button at RHS top of the screen).

title says seat unit bud, not the upper and lower fairings. that guy on the Tyga site still used the nc35 RC211V seat unit.

i may be attempting this very thing in the new year. no doubt the subframe and bodywork will need some custom fabbing but yes it's doable

oh my fault, your right about that. I was thinking the fairing kit.
There are a few on here who fitted RS250 rear seat units on their track rvf's.

Hi micpec, are we talking RS250 Aprillia or RS250 Honda?

I've put an Aprillia 250 race seat on a TZR250 and it looks great.

There are plenty of nc's with honda rs seat units out there, but I've never seen one with an aprilia rs seat unit.

I've been thinking about fitting a Honda RS250 tail cowl to my track bike also, mainly to simplify access to the carbs. I was in Sydney last week and snapped a few pictures of Harley's NC35 at RB Racing. The fairings are all Tyga so is the subframe. I can't remember if it is from version I or II of their RC211V kit but I do know it took a bit of modification to accept the RS250 tail. Very nice job:

That's the critical measurement if you're using the standard subframe. The only way to tell if it fits is to get the measurements (or try it!). If you're willing to make a custom subframe anything can be made to fit.

It wouldn't be hard to make a custom subframe: grab some alloy box section (bunnings), cut it up, rig it up in the desired geometry, drill and bolt it in place before taking it to a good tig welder, then remove the bolts (at least that's what I'd do!). I doubt it would cost that much and it would shed a decent bit of weight.

Yeah nice (and infamous in Oz!) bike that is. It looks like a modified 2005+ honda rs250 (Pedrosa style) seat unit.

Here's a pic of a nice custom honda rs250/rvf seat unit, a place in the US made them (no longer available new):
