Fitting a set of 3TJ inlet rubbers

Post by MarkT »

Got a great set of inlet rubbers like new! The side that bolts to the block has a o ring in it. This looks quite flat and I wonder if I should put some hylamar around it before I fit? What do you think? Also do you know the torque setting for the manifold bolts?
Thanks

Edited

i think in the manual their refereed to as carbureta joints
sounds about right as it gives 8X M6 bolts and 4X M5 screws
the bolts are 10Nm and the screws are 5Nm

you need to download these manuals and check it out
FZR400SP1991_3TJ-ME1.PDF
FZR400RR1992_3TJ-AE1.PDF
from the comline link in the general section here
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=846

i think the rubbers are supposed to be flat,
i got a new set and they were like that and had no problems

sorry mark scrub most of that, forgot you've got the 1wg engine
those manuals are for the 3tj RR and SP which will be ok for the running chassis but not the engine
but you should find one for the 1wg engine on the same page
although having said that i recon the torque settings should be right

Thanks again, 3TJ manifolds on 1WG head so I would think torque be the same. What about the hylomar (fuel resistant) or just put them on as they are?

Cheers! On closer inspection they do have a few cracks but not all the way through, but I guess any of them through age must have some?
