Re: FZR 400 Track/Race Bike Few Small Answers Needed...
it'd only got to 4k if the exup not being there was a problem (been there done that!), you say he has a different rev counter, what is it off? that may be the problem! i know some r6 ones have been tried but they read well under actual revs. and is it wired to the loom or on a separate circuit?
the bolt through where the exup is can be removed and blanked properly, however, there is a small bolt that holds the exup in, make sure its def. gone! but another option might be the fuelling, too much air or too little fuel etc. higher up the revs could cause it to baulk? that may be caused by lack of filter. do you know what jets it has?
a properly derestricted cdi would be the place to start.
the temp gauge shoildnt be a problem.
there's an mmax box on ebay that would do the same as a cdi fix.

You shouldn't have actual Jublilee clips holding the carbs on, they should be clips with a bolt into a captive nut.
If the CDI hasn't been derestricted it will stop the engine from revving out, I think it should stop at 12.5k rpm.
If the exup is still in there you'll hear it making a bang / ping sound but it won't be in time with the engine at all.

Thanks for the replys, ok so the exup is out of the equation. Funny you should say that the guy said that the rev counter was of something like a R6? And the clock starts at 3000rpm... As for jets i am totally unsure, but i am pretty sure the lack of airbox is not helping matters!
Many thanks

They are not actually jubilee clips they are the proper ones as you say, i just couldn't think of any other way to describe them.Evilchicken0 wrote:You shouldn't have actual Jublilee clips holding the carbs on, they should be clips with a bolt into a captive nut.

i'd say its the r6 clocks not reading right, you may well be revving out and not knowing it! the best test will be to run it properly and look at the speed you are getting out of it i guess. i think i may have a set of clocks (minus a speedo that you could try for the rev counter, but i'd have to check exactly what's left of them. i can probably lend you my mmax box aswell if you want to give that a go, pm me.

Re: FZR 400 Track/Race Bike Few Small Answers Needed...
After having a good look threw the bike today, i noticed that a wire had been disconnected (looks like it may have come out while previous owner was riding, as the female and male connectors don't clip into one another so is bound to come apart) it may not be important, it's 2 wires that go to the left (riders position) onto the crank case. Didn't have chance to try with it connected due to the weather... I have searched for three quaters of an hour on google to see what this sensor is for but could find ziltch!!
Many thanks

Complete guess it might be sidestand switch as mine had a long lead on it that wasn't connected. As the good people keep telling me a picture and colour of wires would help. With your total loss I guess it could be anything and with the fan missing even that although that eventually comes out other side!

Ahh finally!! I believe it to be the pick up ignition wire, hmm thats strange how was it even running with this unplugged??
Sure the bike wouldn't even spark/run at all....
Hope and pray that this is the problem though with the poor running and the 9500rpm (so my counter says!) cut!!!
Hope someone can rectify this?
Thanks
