It seems that nobody remembers that.Does anyone know of how to rebuild the late type shock of the nc30.What type of oil and how much of it?A guide would be helpful.

Your most likely not getting a reply because rebuilding a shock needs specialist tools to be done properly, not something your average home mechanic will have. Although saying that i did read a write up in CMM a while back on how to rebuild shocks so i guess it can be done.

I think that i have seen a lot of people in here with a lot of skills and i can't understand why they don't try that? With a little google search you can find some information for many type of bikes. It just doesn't seem so difficult. When i finish my workshop i will try that but first i would like some information like what type oil,how much etc.

Yeah i see what you mean, i reckon i could strip and rebuild a shock in time but doing it right and setup well is another story. Id give most things a go but i like a bike that handles well so think i'll leave it too someone that knows what there doing.

Re: nc30 shock rebuild link
I stripped a shock to see about rebuilding it so I can tell you how to get the reservoir apart etc but I cant see any way of re-gassing it. You will either need to design and build a special fixture, or do what they did in the CMM article and add a valve into the system. The metal plate on the rear of the gas reservoir could be modded or a new unit turned up.
I have been wondering for a while how NC30 club or others do it - maybe someone who has had one done can tell us if a refilling valve has been added.

I understand that an expert would do better job but if it only needs an oil change then it is simple.Drunkn Munky wrote:Yeah i see what you mean, i reckon i could strip and rebuild a shock in time but doing it right and setup well is another story. It's not difficult to fit a valve to re-gas it.But how much oil does it need ?What you did with yours?Do you have any photos?Do you have a link to CCM article because i can't find anything.Bike_Nut wrote:I stripped a shock to see about rebuilding it so I can tell you how to get the reservoir apart etc but I cant see any way of re-gassing it. Re: nc30 shock rebuild link
My reason for doing this was not so much to save the £100 for the re-build. I wanted to restore mine to as new condition and no rebuild will do this, complete with anodising, plating all the parts etc. My plan was to strip it, restore all the components then send it in to be assembled.
Sadly it is still in bits so your on your own as far as oil levels and gas pressures go.
