Bit of an update, just fitted the fuel hose and vacum hose that i bought off rick oliver and took the bike for a quick spin of about 5 miles or so and it seems fine, unfotunaly i also tested the voltage of the battery and when the revs are held at just over 5k im getting 17.5 volts, which is indicating the reg/rec? or could it be something worse.
Anybody got any suggestions what to do? im thinking replace the reg/rec but will anything else need to go aswell?

i'm sure i read somewhere that the reg/rec is the most likely cause if the voltage when revving is above 15.something.
Mine goes to around 13v and that was after sorting out the wire to the reg/rec.

I'm not too great with electrics but i'm not too sure there would be anything else that can change the voltage that much?

I may stand corrected.
