Porndoguk's NC30 - Dyno

Post by porndoguk » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:49 pm

had an interesting and Educational afternoon at PROJEX in cradley heath.

there was a lovely 2T RGV 250 Kicking out 67BHP :o
was lovely bike but unfortunatley it was finishing just as we rolled up

My Bike was Rich as suspected, found out its intermitantly miss firing at 5k-7k due to over fueling (flooding) posibly caused by the extra washer in the slide,

the total recorded power on one of the runs was 54.64BHP @ 12,717rpm & Torque 24.83ft/lbs @10,094rpm . we did get just above 55 at one point.

i also discovered my chain is FUCKED! its 3/4 nice and tensioned one quarter that i didnt check is VERY tight like g string tight :o

he estimated that the chain would be losing between 2-4BHP.

been advised to get a 520 standard chain none of this oring type just metal on metal split link and lube up every so often, between big rides etc. so going to get a 520 with a split and some new renthal sprockets :D

sorry about the sound on the videos it distorts at when the bikes at high revs i did test the bike in the garage in the past and was getting 110dB at 8K RPM  oh and my dodgy yam yam accent :P

So where's the A/F ideally meant to be? power curve looks good from 6k.

I found the RO needles really help out the midrange on a 30, there's virtually zero flatspot on mine, i think kris had good results with these too.

ideally it should be between the upper red and lower green

but as you can see mine hardly goes near it, at 5-7k when its flooding and mis firing the A/F goes of the graph because its to RICH.

so i need to sort that dodgy midrange,

and kev recomends i stick the same jets all round, get the idea of the front running cooler, internally the temp will be the same, so he said to do 122.5 all 4 cylinders but im not sure yet, gonna sort the midrange first then the next,

Yeah I have RO needles without them had a nasty dip midrange. I wouldn't be too disappointed Ricky, a little fettling and you could be close to 60hp which is good. Stick with it bud.

all in all id say a fair result rick, your loosing some BH off the drive now you know and you now KNOW its rich and its still pulling the 55! not bad, the dyno has served its purpose and now you can get those sorted and come back for morrrreeeee lol

the a/f graph looks rich through the hole range though bud to me!? what smoothing was that run taken in? 4th? the line doesnt once jump back above the green in that run.

i think they run it in top gear (6th) pal,

kev had a NC30 track/race bike and he said that you shouldnt always rely on the A/F mix and more on the curve of the HP,

he said that bigger jets would actually help it, talk about reverse psychology.

thing is its all trial and error, and as we know these nc30s never seem to run the same as another,
can always go back to different jets if something doesnt work right.

for sure mate,

bigger ay!? does sound strange dosnt it. long as you got a good man there who know abit then rick should see you fine. i know the a/f readings can be alot more usful on the 4ts over the 2t . can you actually notice any sort of sluggish/bogging behavioure over the range when riding?? part from the nc flat famous flat spot over 6-....

deffinatly have the mid range problems after seeing the graph i thought it was normal.

but the higher revs up to 12k certainly motor along, so gonna do the midarange first then, then get a chain, sort my head bearings AGAIN, and then ride it and then consider taking a load of jets, tools, and laptop on my next visit to kevs
