Will a Thundercat exhaust fit a 3TJ/4JH Hybrid?
Hi Guys,
I was using my hybrid all of last week, it certainly made commuting more fun!
Unfortunately my exhaust is now blowing and the downpipes are shot.
I've been looking around for 4JH headers/systems but there doesn't appear to be much out there at the moment. To expand the potential parts pool, I was thinking about Thundercat exhausts, as the engine is externally pretty much the same.
Do you think that the Thundercat exhaust would fit the 4JH engine in my hybrid?
Alex.

I should think so, I mean both the engines are 4JH, both bikes have 4-2-1 systems and they both exit on the right .... what could possibly go wrong ?!?!?

But the Thudercat is NOT a 4JH, it's designation is 4TV!
I agree that it probably will fit, but was womdering if anyone had tried.

I didn't know it was a different designation.
The T'Cat had higher compression and stronger rods .... otherwise they're similar

Got a set going spare?
If only I had the money to splurge on a full race system, this is the ideal opportunity/justification!

hi alex you can use t/cat or fzr600r downpipes,i used t/cat ones on my hybrids 1st 4jh motor til it ate its gearbox.the down pipes are the same part mumber 4TV146020000 for the t/cat or 4jh146020000 for the fzr600r its only the model prefix thats different.a much cheaper option are early r6 downpipes.ive just bought a set of 5eb ones for 20 quid for the track hybrid.ill dig them out this weekend and compare them to a set of stainless motad t/cat ones and post some pics up this weekend.r6 ones are stainless and come up cheap as chips on e-bay,i just havent offered them up to the other hybrid yet.although teh 4jh and 4tv pies are swappable you will need to fab a bracket for where the pipes mount where the engine bolt comes thru the back of the motor.

ditto that, just looked at the t/cat and r6 header and the spacings much narrower than the t/cats but with mucho cutting and shutting they would/could be made to fit,but it may be a real ball ache-i reckon they may fit the 400 though!

alex-these are motad and new stainless 134 quid http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YZF-600-Thunderca ... 25626f4c1d good price and they will last for ever.put em on get the old ones welded and fixed and if you ever sell the hybrid take them off put the old ones back on and sell the stainless ones on-bit cheeky i know but needs must-just make sure you tell the buyer that the downpipes will need replacing at some point!
