whats she worth
right, this is only a tester. i may not have to sell her ( with luck ) but with a possible house move to fund etc i may have to make certain sacrifices. so i am trying to get an idea IF i have to put the vfr up for sale what to ask for her.
she is in for an mot next wednesday, so assuming i am putting her up for sale as a newly taxed & tested bike what should i ask?
I know she is only worth what someone is willing to pay for her, thats a given but as she is not 'standard' i dont know where to start. You can see some bikes with tyga kits ups for 3k and they sell, some go for far, far less. Mine is the only nc30 i know of on the forum that looks like this, so any thoughts would be good.
GOOD POINTS ( from a selling point of view):
Fresh 12 months mot & tax
good tyres
good pads all round
new clutch plates
BAD POINTS ( from a selling point of view):
was a stolen recoverd - so no history
previous mileage unknown ( has not been mot'd in over 6 years )
temp gauge not working ( manual fan switch fitted )
OTHER POINTS ( these will be more down to personal taste so could be good or bad )
Full cbr 600rr body modified to fit, along with modded subframe.
600rr head light, led tail light
custom seat
custom clocks running rrv fireblade mph speedo
sv650 shock fitted to replace knackered original unit
sp2 calipers, braided hoses and rick o fittings plates
heated grips
laser tri oval stubby race can fitted
I have no recent pics so will use some older ones for reference. the tank & fairings have all been resprayed and now match the rest of the body work for colour.

any helpful suggestions would be appriciated. cheers guys.

Re: whats she worth
i dont want to sell her, but i have to be sensible and sometimes some things are more important. i can always get another vfr, i can always build another.
£1500 - £2000 sounds good to me. i know she wont appeal to the vfr purists / old school and that does not offend me - i built her for the wife and this was the look she wanted, i prefer the oki reps and so on.
I do think she will appeal to the younger riders who have just passed their test / on a restricted licence and want a 'big looking' bike. If you were to put a price on my time then i would never get back what i have put into her, but between £1500 - £2000 would cover all of the costs of the build

Re: whats she worth
I reckon the mechanicals of a bike and the service history would be how I would base the pricing on a bike. The bodywork is only clothing and regardless of what it looks like, the bike has to work well.
You've done a kickass job on that and regardless of the fact I don't like it, I reckon you'll get £1500 for it easy as it will appeal to the kids who want a more modern looking bike (and probably don't care, or understand whether has been running or had essentials like valves checking etc)
It would be a shame for your wife not to get some time out of it.
If you wanted to get the market for it, get your hands on some 33bhp discs and offer it for £2k with the option to have the restricton fitted if required...

Re: whats she worth
thanks fella,
that was the kind of answer i was hoping for. i know its not for everyone, i know its the 'kids' who will be after it more than anyone else. the restrictors are a good thought though, would add another plus to the selling points.
i really hope i dont have to shift her, been sorting out insurance today and will cost about £110 with all declared mods to cover her.
so thats two saying £1500 - £2000, that does make me feel better, its like putting big spoiler or wheels on cars it will affect the re-sale value and your are limiting the market you can sell to.

I think thats about right too. like mark its not to my taste but saying that ive followed the thread and you've done a very good job on the CBR panels and it looks more factory than most do.
Shame you cant keep her and improve on what you have, you know some little twat is gunna buy it and wreak all your hard work

Re: whats she worth
I would love to keep her, up rate forks, shock etc. its not all bad, if i do have to sell her to buy a house then i can have my workshop with a proper bike table so i dont have to lye on the floor working on them. I then would have space for another one or maybe two! depends how many i could sneak in.Drunkn Munky wrote:Shame you cant keep her and improve on what you have, you know some little twat is gunna buy it and wreak all your hard work
If i had to sell her i would hope she would go somewhere else in the country or at least outside of worcester so the chances of me seeing her again would be slim. I sold my zx6r and when i saw her 3 months later she had been down the road on both sides and looked really sorry for herself.
