Re: Can you top this
Some pointers.
Brake fluid is DOT 4 (this should be written on the cap)
Fork oil use the Standard 10w. Thicker fork oil is going to increase the dampening and slow the rebound but not necessarily going to improve the suspension, turn the preload up some more instead of adjusting the dampening. Unless your very experienced in setting up suspension then stick with the standard stuff.
Use a 50/50 DISTILLED water / SILICA FREE antifreeze mixture for the cooling system. To bleed it start the bike with the rad cap off, let it warm up until half way, snap the throttle to 5000rpm and allow to settle, repeat 3 times then turn off engine.
Allow to fully cool, top up coolant and replace cap.
(While the system is drained remove the two hidden drain screws below the exhuast headers and remove rad pipes, flush engine and rads both ways using a hose and plenty of fresh water.)
You can get a honda service manual in a pdf download across the web but I don't think there is any scans of the haynes manual. (Don't pay for any .pdf files either) there all illegal copies and any money a seller makes from them goes to his pocket not the original authors.

Re: Can you top this
yeah get a haynes and just ask here if you are unclear on anything! i started the same as you knowing cars but i jumped head first into bike projects and they are a doddle. so much easier to work on bikes so if you are unsure do bits at a time like mentioned before one weekend do oils, next plugs or suspension etc.
you will honestly kick yourself if you pay that much for something you would be happy doing the work yourself, and when you get stuck in it isnt as scary as you may have first thought!

Re: Can you top this
Well a haynes manual is going to cost me about 70 or 80 AUD dollers shipped from the UK or anywhere from 90 to 120 in australia.
I have plenty of confidence to do it, but going in blind what im going to over come this wekeend, and im doing it with a mate who used to to do dirt racing so he knows some stuff which helps :)
ill take some photos of what condition she is in at the moment and post them up as i go :)
