Limited mileage is cheaper on a lot of different companies policys, not just footman james. This is great for weekend warriors, riders of multiple bikes or riders who have a bike and a car.

Did you ask them how much it would be to increase the mileage allowance?
Actually ithey wont increase this as its a "FIXED" young riders milage allowance
Neosophist wrote:And no offence here but younger riders are probably more of a risk, espeically male ones. Same as with cars. I'm sure theres probably some statistics to back that up. Theres also the lack of experience, not just biking experience but life experience.

There are always going to be exceptions to this, but you have to consider the insurance point of view.
No offence taken, but had been riding for near 4 years (have 4yrs NCB) and been driving for 3 and a half years and never had a crash in either my car or on my motorbike.

Fell off bike on ice before at a stationary position, been pulled out on and dropped the bike to avoid the crash and fell off on works car park due to oil on the ground (all were just indicators or levers damaged)

Had one acciedent in a works van before, I was turning right and a polish (illegal it was found) driver overtook and ripped the front the van off.
Neosophist wrote:They do an agreed value insurance but you'll have to fill out some forms and have somebody sign them from a certified 3rd party, this is to stop people insuring bangers for bucks and claiming.

The owners club is probably because your riding an older 'mini superbike' these are often negelcted bangers (as you can tell by the state of bikes on ebay)

Riding around a banger that you don't care about that is reasonablly quick isn't a good reflection on how safe the bike and / or rider is going to be.
I know mine aint a banger now and i told them i spent 4 years doing it up and such like.
Neosophist wrote:I've used them for quite a few years, there a really decent company.
They might be a decent company, but they didnt seem to want my business :(

haha rub it in :P

EDIT: Is there really any point in TPFT or Comp for a NC24 as anything other than minor damage will result in it being wrote off and them paying out like £100 probably

TPFT means if its stollen or set on fire you get the book value, and for another persons damage in the event of your causing the crash

TP means you only pay for another persons damage in the event of your causing the crash, if its stolen fired or written off you get sweet fa from your insurer.

FC your fully covered for theft, fire, 3rd party for another persons damage in the event of your causing the crash, and the repairs or the book value of the bike if it were to be written off.

on a VFR your better off with TPFT based on its value, but if you have trickm bits carbon etc you need to declare them to get it covered as this will not be payout on unless prior aggreed

i didnt type that out well if you only have 3rd party cover your insurer will pay the 3rd party ONLY, you would have to repair your bike at YOUR cost. same as TPFT, but that covers for theft and fire where as TP doesnt.
