race loom for nc30 kill/ignition switch?
right im currently on hold on doing a race loom as im keen to find out on what options people do with there ignition switch on the bike for track/race use.
what i mean is do you have a switch on the dash/cockpit in place of the key barrel, or a master relay so when the kill switch is hit the relay drops and a total kill in then activated? as all the kill switch does is kill the CDI, and thus still having live electrics, and thats not adviced in an emergency or an off?
would a wrist cord switch like the speedway riders and jet skis etc be the favoured option?
Rick

I have total kill on the switch (big Master on / off button)
And the igition key is bypassed.
When the K/S is 'off' the electrics on and you can start the bike etc.
When its' 'ON' you can't do squat

tony & mart do you have diagrams or photos?
so basically i can short out the ignition, but how do i using the run/off switch to do a total kill without relays whens that just kills the CDI but the ignition is still live?

Re: race loom for nc30 kill/ignition switch?
You will need a relay for total kill via the KS, it's not designed to cope with the current.
I would take the main ignition feeds to the relay (30 & 87) and splice the relay coil + (86) into the load side (the side that is not permanently live) of the KS, and the relay - (85) straight to earth.
This way, the KS is powering the coil to operate the relay.
As an added precaution, I would fit a 3A fuse between terminal 86 and the KS, also a 30A fuse between terminal 30 and the ignition feed.

Hi
Guessing you are keeping charge and start circuits;

Includes the resistor mod to bypass the speed cut
Also have a couple others with for total loss/electric start and total loss/bump start if you need.
regards
jon

Re: race loom for nc30 kill/ignition switch?
everything is stripped out i had allready soldered a resistor in but then realised i put a 22k and not a 2.2k so thats on the list of to buy, i have millions of resistors but id be buggered if i can find 1 2.2k!
all bandaged up with new insualtion tape and i kept all the rubbish to weigh and see what weight its lost, i have also removed the original fuse box, and replaced with 2 fuse holders,
any way that asside,
ill just wack a relay in then, if thats ok with you wishbonner

Sounds good. Does this mean the kill switch is now the ingnition on and off?
