Carb Rubbers, where from?? Rejet??

Post by graham72 »

Was going to take my baby out for a ride today, but she had a headache, so thought I'd take the nc instead!!

Alas no, unfortunately on trying to turn choke off found out (eventually) that the choke on the front carbs had seized on, bugger botheration and blast!

Using the most excellent guide on here Ive managed to get the carbs off (slightly grazed knuckles, but honest Im fine)
First thing I've found is that my carb rubbers have gone more cracked and solid than that old condom thats been dossing in your wallet since the late nineties.

Sooooo wheres the best (read: cheapest, fastest) place to get new rubbers from? Any idea on price?
Also is it worth rejetting while im hogging the kitchen table (mrs in bath, no shouting yet....) bike is standard apart from carbon can.
All advice gratefully received! Ta.

Is it worth doing the jets, withit being in a fairly standard state of tune?
What if I did the washer and drilled out hole, will that have no effect if I dont change the jets?

Dave Silver Racing - they are £5 each plus vat

http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/part_22822/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

BUT.....

Rick Oliver will provide a better service, supply all the jets and needles and all the advice that you'll need to get it running spot on. You'll save a couple of quid at Dave Silvers, but wont get the advice and service.

By the time you've taken the carbs on and off a few times, Ricks advice is top notch

I put 120/120 jets and the RO road needles with 1mm shims that Rick advised me to and mine is running spot on, first time

I also drilled the carb slides and set it up using DataRacers guide that you'll find on this forum too.

I tohught that mine was running pretty well until I drilled the slides, re jetted it and put the RO needle in.

BLOODY HELL what an improvement! that's all I can say!, well worth spending seventy odd quid with Rick and a few hours work following Cams carb guide

The standard needles will perform badly if worn (If they're worn you can see it very easily when they're removed).

Rick's needles will also perform better as standard needles probably had to take emission testing into account at the sacrifice of midrange power.
