NC30 K&N air filters

Have heard mixed feelings on these. What's the story?

On the "old" forum there was an topic about aftermarket air filters compared to genuine Honda ones. This includes the popular Pipercross airfilter mod (DIY).

In the end there was not real powergain to be had on the NC30's other than durability, longer usage of an aftermarket filter (wash, re-oil and re-use). I had fitted the pipercross airfilter mod on my ex-NC30. But I now stick with genuine ones for my NC35.

And if you mean airfilter as breath case filter instead of an small filter in the airbox...maybe Viper_Biker can tell more (I believe he had a different filter used in there, but I am not 100% sure about this). Hope this helps.

Very little (if any) power gains, takes ages to get it properly set-up, they sound cool but you cant really tell any difference with an unbaffled pipe.
Took me about 6 hours to get the carbs set-up to an OK standard, about a week later I then resorted back to standard anyway as I was worried I was running too lean.
I wouldn't recommend it from personal opinion.

Not really wortht the hassle unless yours is in need of replacing, you could just bin the filter, and put the money towards a HRC setup

Cheers for the replies. I just really like them (sound, longevity, reputation etc etc) and run them on my other bike and in the car.

If you really like them then go for it, (the induction sound is pretty cool) just be prepared for lots of trial and error with the carb settings

Oh yes, my GSXR (4 K&N pods) and car (S3 with K&N airbox element) both sound great

Hi, i replaced my filter with a couple of layers of HRC foam (to stop the bricks) as my standard one was black with dirt!!! went up a jet size and lifted the needles 0.5mm with a washer. Fueling feels stop on, and the induction noise is ace!!!
If you dont mind taking carbs to bits go for it.

Or does anywhere still "make" these? Alternatively anyone got the details on how to do it? Btw I don't want a foam one though, really do want to go K&N...

I heard a rumour that a Golf GTI K&N filter will fit with little modification.
Not sure on the exact details though
