The Answer To suspension Woes?!

I have been tinkering around with the suspension on my NC23 tri-arm since its last track day and with the standard rear shock things were getting hopeless.

I've been running around looking for something adjustable, stiffer and with a bit of ride height increase on the rear. After weighing up all the options, to get what I personally wanted would be along the lines of a Hagon replacement shock or a decent rebuild from the likes of K-tech.

Yes GF is the option most people take and I respect that, I just wanted an adjustable shock that was NEW or as good as.

Hours and no luck, Hagon are just too expensive and a rebuild was going to cost what I consider to be too much for a rebuilt 22 year old shock, So I took the plunge on a BETOR shock for the CBR600 FH-FL 1986-90, it has adjustable pre-load etc and brand new at £95 on the 'bay it had to be done (retail new is still very good value!).

In my countless hours of searching and measuring, these cbr6' shocks are 5mm longer eye-2-eye than the nc23 BUT retain the same dimensions elsewhere (one of the hardest things to match to other bikes shocks is the lower mount width) so this BETOR shock, looks to be very well made, its brand new, it fits like a glove and has a warranty....!

It's much stiffer, much like a new shock should feel, and is literally one of the best buys I think I've ever made. I thought I would share this little experience with others because after speaking with a few formula guys and through my own experience, shocks on these bad boys are like hens teeth!

If anyone else is interested let me know and I will forward some pics and details!

Cheers all

Sounds interesting. I take it you have fitted it and had no problems running it? Also where can you get these as I searched ebay and didnt fine them.

Cheers

I picked this one up one eBay although they are readily available online if you just do a google search.

There arent too many on ebay at the moment, most are under 'reduced shock absorber' or similar. I know busters etc do supply them also.

All fitted and works spot on so i would highly recommend.

Cheers!

Just wanted to say thanks for the post, I'm interested in sorting out my rear shock for my '23 but I'm on a very limited budget, if I see one of these shocks come up for a similar price then I'll probably give it a go.

Was it literally just a straight swap?

Literally a straight swap.

No modification to any part of the bike.

They do come up and retail at the sharper end of £100 with further investigation. Still worth it at these prices

Nice one DK!

I have the bike out on track June 8th, so I can give some real feedback on the shock after that, feels great on the few test runs Ive taken it out for compared to standard.

Watch this space

I asked for a quote from the website DK posted and they told me it would be £189 delivered (UK mainland) if any one else was interested. I'm still keeping an eye out on the bay, hopefully one will come up around the same price as the OP.
