Hi All

New to the forum and hope you can help with some advise.
Been thinking of buying a gpz400r from 1986 and wondered if anyone knows about these and if they are good bikes and potential issues with them.
many thanks
Giuseppe

Hi and welcome Giuseppe.
GPZ's are getting old now so check everything.
Head gaskets can blow on old Kwackers so check there's no oll leaks etc.
Make sure all the electrics work correctly and that it starts and runs properly from cold until it's hot.
If it's got uni trak rear suspension check the linkage has no exessive movement in it.
Seized brakes and rusty forks are expensive to fix as well.
How much is it up for?

Hello mate

many thanks for the welcome.
just had a chat with the vendor and he seems to have really looked after it.
recent works done, replaced fork seals and oil, serviced oil, filter plugs, brake pads replaced, stainless downpipes etc.
he says it is lumpy at start up which would indicate a carb clean and slight rattle which goes away when warm.
everything works as it should according to him.
trouble is it's miles away and I wouldn't be able to view it first which is against all that I do.
I don't normally buy anything without seeing and testing it.
up for £750ono.

Cheers
Giuseppe

£750 is far too expensive imo, unless it's in immaculate condition. For that sort of money you can get a nice ZX-4 or a tatty ZXR.

Hello there

Yes there is also a zx-4 for sale on the bay for £595.00 but again depends if I want to take a risk without viewing it.
Maybe not such a good idea buying without seeing it.
Cheers

I've seen 600 swapped GPZ400s going for £600 on fleabay. I picked mine up for £100 with a blown engine.

I have a restrictor kit for a GPZ400R if you're interested.
