Re: Stafford classic show - 16th 17th oct
How do you know the chap sitting down was not interested in talking, did you approach him?.
I sat down a while to rest, as I had along day Friday, travelling and then helping out putting up our stand and a friends.
I have been to all the shows where we had a stand for the past few years, we encourage riding 30s, as that's what we do, but do joke about riding in winter, the lads are a good bunch, racing, parading, track days and rides out.
Dave.

i went over to chat about the 45 on the plinth he said hi and got up and turned around so i guess he was busy or didnt feel like interacting. never mind. had a great chat with the guy next door with the MB5 and MT5. i liked his MBX125 too.

There was no 45, only an nc30 with 750 engine on the plinth.
It can be a tiring day, but I am surprised he was not helpful, the chaps on the stand are only there as they want to help out.
Come back next year and I will talk you to death, that's if I am still riding.

It is an NC30 with ZX7R forks and NC35 bodywork.
Perhaps Paul spoke to a vistor that sat on our stand to sample the tea and cakes, who knows?

Re: Stafford classic show - 16th 17th oct
dave, put up a picture of everyone on the stand and i will identify the chap.
fact is, its a public stand, with bikes on it and people around. this is the second time i have sensed the "click" at the RC30 owners stand over different years. now perhaps its me, or perhaps its not, i guess when at other stands the people running the stands always seem eager to chat and engage, never had a problem before.
perhaps my face didnt fit at the RC30 owners club, or perhaps i didnt look wealthy enough to own a RC30 ? or maybe i looked like another dreamer (which is kinda the theme of the stafford show dare i say) perhaps it was that guy who took exception to me using my RC30 in all weathers ? i wont me losing sleep over it thats for sure. it does kinda confirm my feelings about the club though.
When i was there first time around 10.30am saturday the stand was quiet, a couple of people milling around, saw the guy at the back sat down made eye contact and smiled went over to say hello he got up smiled and turned his back and walked off. so i hovered around for a min or two with the girlfriend before walking over to the ducati stand.
maybe they were afraid of girls ?
Second time was a couple of hours later, it was much busier, took a look at each of the bikes for a few mins however it was so busy you got shuffled along again and oddly enough ended up at the chatty friendly ducati stand to get my picture taken with my uncles next to my dads ducati's
The 200 won second prize i believe in best pre 60's bike

Re: Stafford classic show - 16th 17th oct
Paul,
I don't have photos of any of the stand members and won't get into a witch hunt anyway.
I know them all well and they give up their time, collecting the bikes, setting up the stand, answer what questions they can, and supply tea and cake.
Any one who asks a question gets a sensible reply, although we pull each others legs about the cleanest and dirtiest bikes.
There is no clique, my RC30 meetings attract NC riders and all are welcome, in fact now all types of bike and rider show up.
You can't tar all members with the same brush, [you dont know them all, neither do I], but every club member I have met are true enthusiasts, most riding not collectors.
There are even well respected members of this forum in our club, and some have even come along to my meet ups.
I do find some resentment from a few people I meet though, they seem to think we are spoilt rich people, but as you know, as an owner yourself, we just choose to spend a larger proportion of our money on bikes.
I do have a few wealthy owner friends, and they are amongst the most active when it comes to riding, parades [various bikes] track days, fettling and shows, often with the dirtiest bikes
Shall I send you a membership form?
Dave.

Re: Stafford classic show - 16th 17th oct
Dave that wasnt aimed at you personally however had you have been in my shoes you may see why i feel the way i do. same as everything you can please 100 people, but piss one off and thats the one you hear about.
i am not interested in a witch hunt either frankly, its just not important, i am not crying or losing sleep over it.
also if the truth be known i dont think i am the only person who has had a similar brush off in the past.
anyway dave, thanks for the offer i am not really interested thanks. perhaps you may recall i tried to offer some help and advice a while back regarding moving things forward for the group regarding the site and other bits only to be told it was all in hand - 4 years ago, then i tried again less than 2 years ago and got a thanks but no thanks we are not interested, but you can join up and pay anyway.
Dave i am pleased you get lots from the club, and it feels like home for you. i feel my time is better spent and appreciated looking after 400 members. however all said and done i wish i knew you were going i would have made an effort to come and see and chat with you. i did post in the meetings section to see who was going.

Fair enough, I did pass on your offer at the time, and I thank you for that offer, but the organiser had already engaged help, even though you may well have made a better job and more quickly.
It would take more than 1 annoying member, for me to form an impression of a group.
I was joking about membership, but I will be on the stand next year.
Any way this forum is about bikes, not a compaints department.
