I've just used Interparcel to get a car wheel and tyre from Surrey to Lancashire, cost just over £9, next day delivery too.

I'm pretty sure all the international courier options on parcel2go include 'signed for' and standard £50 compensation. You can up the compensation amount but obviously that costs a bit more.

If you havent already, sign up to http://www.topcashback.co.uk and you'll get £4 cashback from your first parcel2go order.

I used http://www.parcelmonkey.co.uk yesterday to arrange collection of a pair of tyres. Cheaper than I'd expected and easy too

Just like to add to this, i have been let down 4 times now by parcelmonkey. each time the following was consistent.
no response back from the support form on the website.
company phone number no longer works
file a paypal dispute and they dont contest it, but you wait 20 days for a refund.

frankly for the sake for 50p less its just not worth the stress of using these chimps

Use a reputable online courier co than this bunch of muppets.
