im not selling this bike for 200 quid, why an earth would i give this up for less than i bought it. its still the same pile of shit and i bought it for 900.... if this bike was working faultlessly, would anyone actually buy it for 900?

it is probably worth about 500 at the most - if it is taxed and MOT for 12 months, then job jobbed.

It can be fiuxed, stop being a bellend with it mate! it is a pile of metal bits and rubber buts - it is no voodoo...just methodical sorting of the problems.

1: stop the fuel running into the carbs when the tap is off < you sorted it
2: make sure the float valve seals > easy, you can check that visually and with the carbs in your hands
3: be sure it has the other little bits sorted..loose coils and the like...
4: ride it like you stole it

yeah, its hopefully getting done tomorrow... but is there a way of checking to see if its still leaking fuel into the engine? anyway of checking that with the carbs out sitting on a table? maybe pour some fuel through the fuel hose and open the butterflies and see if the fuel still leaks, will that work?

If it's leaking, you won't need to open the butterflies to find out. After all, they were shut when you left the bike, and it still ended up with an engine full of petrol! They're not 100% shut when the throttle isn't being pulled, otherwise presumably the bike would stall. All you need to do is take the carbs off and feed them some petrol. If there's a leak, it will become apparent, and you'll know which one it is, too.

i already know which one its leaking :) when i removed the carbs off my bike after i got back from my holiday, the rear left cylinder (while siting on the bike) was filled with petrol. there is a picture on this thread somewhere... so its only that one that leaks. i will check it up tomorrow and see if its leaking bad.

could there be any other possibilities of fuel entering the engine? or any other way that fuel can end up in the cylinder chamber?

Yes it's best to check that the problem has been resolved before putting the carbs back on the engine.

All you need to do is sit the carbs horizontally (as they are on the bike) and fill up the carb bowls via the fuel inlet hose with fuel. Don't put too much in or it will just come out the carb overflows. I use a plastic syringe for the job but a funnel will work fine. Let them sit for a while and check for leaks.

While they're off make sure all floats are adjusted correctly and they return/ spring back properly. You might have covered this, I haven't read all 108 pages.

Whatever you do, get the job done properly so it's one less issue eliminated.
