RVF Project Rebuild

Post by vic-vtrvfr » Mon May 27, 2019 10:47 pm

Hey folks.
Been a while since I uploaded any info on my projects, think my old threads are actually gone!
So I've been lucky enough to become the owner of an RVF.
The older forum members will know this bike and its owner

Unfortunately the time came for Mo to let it go, but I was able to use all my brownie points and bring it home.

So laid everything out to see what I had

Built it all up into a roller to make it easier, came with set of new panels too

Started rebuild proper this week, new headstock bearings and exhaust gaskets, fitted the 17" rear back on too.

Plenty of work ahead but looking forward to giving some life back to this.
Has some nice parts, RLR SP system, HRC spec carbs & HRC cdi too.
In due course it'll get lots of TLC and attention, hopefully get back to its former glory.
History starts as a race bike in Japan, bike was a podium finisher at the NorthWest 200 back in the day so be great to hear it roar again !

Watch this space for slow updates

Holy thread resurrection!

Thought it was about time I got back here more instead of CrapBook.
Finally got a bigger garage so I get more chance to work on the projects.
RVF got stripped down to nothing & reassembled properly. Carbs got a quick check over, fresh battery and fuel - not a peep.
Bit of time diagnosed no power to the coils so had to modify the race loom a bit.
Got that sorted and it fired up easily. It lives again!!
Tore it all back down again for mild cosmetics and to fix exhaust blowouts.
Panels got a coat of paint, rebuilt the tacho & temp gauge into a new chinese copy cluster housing, added a spare VFR speedo (some mild dremel use needed)
But shes back in 1 piece, RLR system still sounds great.
Current jobs are trying to decide on decals & waiting on seat foam so can add the final touches.
Will add some pics when decals are done.
