The wadding turned up from Pipewerx, thought it was going to be a pain to get in because of all the sharp edges but it wrapped up fine.

Seeing as it took such a beating to get the internals out and I had a few minor attempts at test fits which failed miserably I was more than a little worried I would not be able to get it all back together and this would be all a fat waste of time and parts.

but....

10 mins at 150 deg in the oven worked wonders! Slid home perfectly no hassle at all, took me by surprise as I was ready for a battle!

However the Mrs wasnt happy about her kitchen stinking when she got back from the lateshift on valentines day, forgiveness is easier than permission an all that.

Welded up

While Im waiting for the can to be polished up thought I would get the main jets changed.
Spoke to Tony who knows more about the RVF carbs and he said '110s mate, tried and tested', sounds about right so good enough for me.
Thanks goes to Rick for the swiftness of posting them out to me.

Wish I had done it when the carbs had to come off last time but wasnt commited to changing the can at that point.
Couple of in-progress shots

You put 110's in all 4 carbs? Bike is looking good mate. Gives me inspiration to finish my NC35!

So picked up the can from the polisher today and weighed them both and thankfully my reworked one came out lighter, in truth I was a bit worried about all that 1.2mm thick stainless tube adding up.

Old one off

New one on, cant see a difference? Good that's what I wanted
Image

Sounded good but not excessive. Then I noticed some smoke whisping from the seat, bit of oil on the rear headers maybe? sniff sniff nope that smells like the regrec on the way out. Swiftly ign turned off and off with the bodywork to have a look. Nothing obvious burnt and the battery wasnt being overcharged when I checked a few days ago, till a closer look saw a pin hole where the smoke was coming from and black goo. Yep, don't trust that anymore, something else to replace.

New regrec arrived (thanks again Rick) as well as the thermal grease, so has been fitted up.

Will fire it up when I have a chance to double check the outputs. To make life easier I bought a volt gauge ages ago and made some cable to fit directly to the optimate plug (which all my bikes have) with the aim of making a hooked face to hang it off the handle bars, this has spurred me on to get the hook/mount part finished.

Drilling and cutting 1.5mm stainless is a b*tch!
Image

Quick test to make sure it still works, just waiting for the trim to arrive.

Got all the sharp edges covered

Wasn't happy with the first version of the rear seat cowl, another came up really cheap so I sold version 1 and started version 2.
