Re: NGneer's "Project - spare bits build"
Hmmmmmm!......I think I may have stuffed up.
Having had a day or two to let things mull over in my head a bit, I have now realised that I lost the plot slightly with this build.
The whole point of this build was (originally) to make a cheap track focused bike, which could be turned back into a road bike at some point if I wanted to. I wanted to end up with something that I could throw around a track freely without the element of worry and holding back that I always have on a tidy/shiny/expensive bike.
I think I got carried away just bolting things on in order to get it together as quickly as possible and as such have ended up with a 50/50 sort of bike. Part track toy and part trick bit build (with Dymags and a mint twin stack exhaust etc)….and as such is now neither one thing or the other really.
Having thought about this for a couple of days now I think I need to get back in the garage and get the bike back towards what it was always meant to be…. IE mechanically sound, if a little rough round the edges. As such most of the fancy stuff will be coming back off with OEM / standard stuff going back on where possible. Once it is complete and running right it might get treated to a couple of rattle cans to jazz it up slightly, and that is it.
Shiny stuff will be going back on the shelf or I may even think about getting radical and selling some of the trick stuff that is now ‘redundant’ and making some more space in the garage.
First things first……get back into the garage and get the bike back to basics!

I like your thinking. Spend so much time on my bikes that to put them in the kitty litter would be painful to say the least.
Often mull over ratty track bike job lots for sale
NGneer’s “Project - rough but ready track bike” for the win!
Edit: the rvf could probably easily be tempted by some wheels and exhaust if you decide to sell...

Cheers Tim - rough and ready, but mechanical sound with future potential is the targetTimon wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 12:58 pmI like your thinking. Spend so much time on my bikes that to put them in the kitty litter would be painful to say the least.

P.S. I will give you a shout if I decide to let the Dymags go

Re: NGneer's "Project - spare bits build"
Well i decided I had a spare half an hour or so before the MOTO GP was due to start so back into the garage and I got the bike from this:
to this:
Came in only to find out the race is delayed due to weather
Wonder if I can get the subframe of again before the Formula 1 starts

Re: NGneer's "Project - spare bits build"
I am getting good at this now
A quick 40 minute dash before the Grand Prix and I have the back half of the exhaust, under tray, subframe, and rear shock out....and still enough time to wash the hands before the flag goes up
and a pile of bits..

Re: NGneer's "Project - spare bits build"
Marcus.......too many is the honest answer
I was contemplating trying to build a full bike using the spare bits but having had to use the "spare" engine for the Honda Britain build, thanks to Hermes breaking my other engine, I gave up on that idea. Once I have this one 'finished' I think I need to have a bit of a radical clear out to free up both some funds and some space
