2014 race bike build, from sub64 champion to F400 challenger

Post by james66 » Mon Dec 30, 2013 11:41 pm

Hi all

Won the sub64 championship with bemsee this on this now rather sorry looking NC30 but now its time to get some POWER + go for the F400 with bemsee

Managed some very good results in f400 despite only running 59bhp all year so fingers crossed for the new season
In the pics here you will see a screen missing + a few uncut cable ties on the belly pan, well... i cam off at cadwell + the bike ended up sat on the rev limiter on its side, i ran over + killed it but i was a fair distance from the bike, all seemed ok + done the following race then qualifying at next + final meet for it to end up knocking on race 1 so i was lent a bike to finish the weekend on
I lent the screen to a lad who then launched a bike that he borrowed going into paddock hill

Here goes with the battle scars after a full season + 2 crashes

Firstly was to strip off bodywork + trial fit my new set, 2004 RSW250  need to get this done so i can get a mould from it all + get it to my sprayer ready for the season start, i think hes going to cry when i turn up to drop it all off, may end up a few late nights for him

Heres the seat unit fitted with the slightly battered end can

Image

And then with a GP can i have which will end up on the tyga pipework on another race bike i build as this bike will be running an SP1 style system

Image

Thats all for now but heres the spec as it stands

NC30 with nc35 bodywork
Stock engine
Early tyga single can system
Stock airbox + just carbs setup
520 chain
Dayton 675 radial forks with k-tech internals
04-06 r1/r6 radial calipers
GPI radiators
Lithium battery
Carbon front 3.75" rs250 dymag / mag marvic rs250 5.5" rear (dry)
Mag PVM 3.5 " rs250 front / mag PVM 5.5" rs250 rear (wet)
Modified rear axle

The usual other race bike essentials such as rear sets + chopped subframe etc

Heres the intended 2014 spec
As above but with these additions

RSW250 bodywork
Ally subframe
Ally fuel cell with Fibreglass cover (carbon at some point)
RS250 kit aluminum axle
Brembo caliper mounted ontop rather than underslung
Carbon rear 5.5" dymag
RLR replica SP1 system
PFM RS250 discs
Billet yokes (hopefully adjustable ones at some point next year)

+1mm omega pistons
Ported, flowed + skimmed heads
Lightened + balance bottom end
Slipper clutch
Ignitech CDI
Quickshifter
Large airbox enclosing the carbs

As always i expect some things to change along the way but only for the better

Anyway should be more pics over next few days

James

Good looking machine, and that 250 bodywork will be gorgeous. Does the 250 seat fit over the stock subframe?

are you allowed to run +1? Thought that was "if the manufacturer offered it", which HOnda do not?

I reckon you should be allowed as there is not a Kwak or Yam out there that is not a 414!

Yes +1mm's are allowed, used to be manufacturers oversize only but was changed a few years ago to allow max 415cc, there are a few zxr's running +1's but still a large amount on stock bore

No the rsw seat doesnt quite fit over stock subframe, mines half as long + it could still do with being about an inch shorter or trim the undertray of the seat unit
Subframe is a tad wide in truth too, ill get some better pics for you later
Ive just ordered a new tig welder so ill make myself a tiny ally subframe to suit + battery etc will be under the tank cover

Tony, i have wondered about right up front but theres a slight problem if i come off it could get ripped off, i can trim out the dummy tank slightly to aid airflow a little but the airbox fills the frame + will have heat reflective tape on the back the help + should help keep the carbs cool so should be ok

Morris - haha no 440's will be on my bike ive been pulled in every weekend for post race dyno run which hit exactly the same every time where others were failing, will never be any cheating from me

didnt get chance to get in garage today so looks like will be the weekend, few bits + bobs are on their way to me so will also pop up goodies pics as things arrive, its like christmas :)
