So, I started my rebuild last week on this NC35 that i picked up for a song,

Keen eyes will spot the 18" rear wheel, don't ask me how it ended up on an NC35, bit backwards. and yes, that is a VFR rear end, it's definitely a bitsa!

It has been sitting for quite a while, it wouldn't start so i drained the old fuel and cleaned fouled plugs and it fired up straight away! Motor has excellent compression, underneath all the neglect it seems like a pretty solid bike.

Bike is destined for a pretty comprehensive rebuild from the ground up.

Due to my new job i only really get one day every fortnight to work on it so progress will be slow but steady.

I'm also tossing up between which fairings to choose originally i was going to stick with the OEM design, but now i'm throwing the idea up of a Tyga RCV212 front minus the rear cause the RVF Tyga rear doesn't do it for me. There is an alternative rear that looks a bit like the '09 CBR1000's which i'm researching a bit more, so i'll keep you posted.

As far as mods go, i'll be fitting a Fox Twin Clicker rear shock with adjustable pre-load, rebound and compression damping and adjustable ride height, with an 850 pound spring to suit the RVF's shock lever.

Picked up some mint 03/04 600rr calipers with the 600rr master cylinder to match, also the rear needs a new disc and pads.

Going to upgrade the exhaust with a full system while i'm at it as well, probably go with a Tyga system at this stage as well as some better rearsets.

Anyway, stripped the buggery out of her for a few hours and this is how she stands as of now.

So far bike needs a new left hand switch block due to a bit of road rash, also the top radiator has seen better days so will be replaced, found some good ones at local wreckers this week too.

It has aftermarket triple clamps which i'm not really sold on cause they have no provision for the ignition barrel which was bolted to one side. They also really change the steering geometry to the point where it is a pig to push around, at first i thought it was a combination of static brake pressure and low tyre pressures but it is definitely the triples.

I think i'll swap them and try them on my track RVF cause this will be a streetbike and low speed manoeuvres will be a pain in the arse. Has anyone here had much experience with aftermarket triples? Thoughts?

Also needs the choke handle as the factory one was missing and was operated by what looked like a lawnmower choke handle mounted down near the idle adjuster.

Thats all i can really think of now but there will be plenty of updates along the way.

And i look forward to all your comments, suggestions, criticisms and experience with this model along the way!

It's also got an NC30 engine, so enjoy the silly long first gear :peace:

try greasing and/or slacking off the steering head bearing just a fraction, if it's been stood I'd expect them to be dry, and someone could have done them up too tight at some point

Ahh, I see, what is the give away that it's an NC30 engine?

When I first got it running, I realeased the clutch and it launches to about 10km/h instantly, at first I suspected the 18" wheel but this combined with that explains it.

Cheers mate!

it's painted, the NC35 engines are bare metal :)

try out the thing with the steering head bearings, worth a try before forking out for new yokes or something

FAIRINGS: Since you've already got the NC30 rear subframe, and if you're considering the Tyga RC211V fairings but don't like the tail, perhaps you could do this:?

Tyga Performance NC30 T10 Twin Seat set.

http://tyga-performance.com/site/index.php?cPath=73_950

IMHO the T10 looks head and shoulders better than the RC211V style

REAR SHOCK: Can you tell us any more about that Fox Shock you intend to use? I'm intrigued...

Thanks!

I think the subframe might be for an NC35, the 'hoop' extends too high, it'll be in the middle of the seat. Could be that the plastics are hanging a bit too low though

Yeah it's still an NC35 subframe, although it has been butchered over the years, the tail section was just sitting on top held on with octopus straps!

I quite like that NC30 Tyga tail too, how different are the rear subframes?

Although at this point, i am leaning towards this kit,

Has anyone ever heard of "Trick Racing"? That is the make of the triples but i cannot find one iota of information on them or even the company? Although i'm not really keen on them as there is no provision for ther ignition barrel.

This is the Fox Twin Clicker in question,

Going to send it for a rebuild also as it's been sitting for a few years.
