ChowderV4's - VFR 400 Nc30

Post by ChowderV4 » Fri Mar 25, 2011 5:35 pm

I though i best put my bike in here now, i've had my nc just over a year now and have tried to treat it to some tasties and treat it well, and on a shitty 19/20 year old salery its not easy!

I still have many many many plans in my head, lots of mods to get and at the end i hopefully intend to restore it back to its original red, white and blue colours on nice undamaged fairings.
Its an amazing bike to ride and work on and i want to get it looking as good as it feels to ride.

Its going to be a slow progress as im currently unemployed atm and cant even afford to reinsure it :(

Current spec is:
-1989 Vfr 400 Nc30
-Standard Engine
-Drilled carb slides, needles raised 0.5mm, 117f 118r jets.
-Ethos or Yamamoto Half system (not sure), Blueflame end can.
-Hel red braided front brake lines
-Ebc pro-lite discs + Ebc pads
-Later spec front forks
-R6 reg rec mod
-Hrc derestrictor box....dont even start!
-Smoked double bubble screen
-Carbon clock surrounding
-Solo seat cowl

Here's how it looked the day i got it,

You have no idea how exited i was to have a big bike, let alone a lurvely v4 8-)

The first thing i did to it was get a half system and re jet it,

i bought a yamamoto half system off a member on here, but it was redonkulously loud and a mega pain, it ended up burning a hole in my indicator

I ended up selling the yamamoto half system and getting another system (was told it was ethos but have been told its a yam too.)

ran it with the ethos can for a while until i decided to switch back to my old blueflame as it ran slightly better.
At the same time i upgraded to some later spec front forks which made a huge difference over my soggy early spec ones.

This winter i decided to give the bike a good clean all over so i took the shock out and cleaned the whole rear end, i went through about 10 cans of degreaser getting all the chain gunk off the swingarm and frame!!!

It gave me a chance to clean up my exhaust and get rid of that horrible titanium colour from the exhaust too.

In this last week i bled the whole brake system, new pads in the rear and new lines on the front.

Also took the oppertunity to try and repair some cracks and weak tabs on my fairing and gave the whole bike a good degrease and clean.

I finished cleaning and polishing the bike up today and this is how she sits at the moment. ( The odd wheels are because i couldnt afford a new tyre so bought a part worn on a wheel.....i have 3 rear wheels now! :geek: )

Couldn't resist one with my new car too....

So thats my progress over the past year, i hope to do alot more this year, I feel its calling out for an ignitech and a carbon round can, new fairings sprayed in its original colours again and some suspension trickery.
I hope to update this over the year but bear with me as it may be a bit dead and slow at first...
