L.Svedberg wrote:Thanks for the nice comments! No real updates. I've been rebuilding a few MX bikes lately, being an old MX rider I never really lost the bug, and it's been great fun and a bit relaxing just being able to order the stuff needed and not having to fabricate/modify everything like on this NC35 project.

I'm almost done with the MX bikes for now, just one left to rebuild (2001 RM250) and then it's back to the NC35 carbon work again!

Good to hear. Are you running a fuel pump on the RVF out of interest?
BRS Racing for up to date bike build and race results.
TT Zero for the electric Superbike build.
DM104 for the road race team.

Are you doing the moulds yourself?
Real nice job on the seat/tank mould, particularly like the built-in splitter recesses, very helpful when braking the mould apart.
Is it built using the un-mould system from EC.

Chris.

Hi!

Yes, it's the Uni-Mould system from Easy Composites. I made the plug, and had a lot of help from a friend of mine when making the moulds. Still thinking hard about the best way to make the actual part, though, so many options, and quite complicated lay-up.

I'll probably do the maiden part from cheap glass fibre weave, carbon is too expensive to experiment with in these quantities.

Haha, nasty stuff to work with, I much prefer the green epoxy tooling gel BUT gives a great mould.
I agree that its a very complicated shape to lay-up, how are you aiming to work, wet lay and bag, infuse - could it even be done or pre-preg.

Ive working on some similar parts for my bike though just replicating oe parts.
I have an advantage in that I live 5 km away from EC so have Paul and Matt to fall back on and the use of their oven.

Hi all! I've been busy expanding my family, got a 9yr girl and a 3 yr boy now making our lives interesting. We've also moved from our old house to a countryside property where I've been setting up the place for my wife to keep our four horses. That meant a serious overhaul of the old stable building, building a 30x60 metre paddock etc etc...

Finally, the time has come for me to realize my dream of building my own workshop, and that's what I've been doing for the last two years. It's coming along nicely, I'd say it's time to move all the mancave stuff into the building by end of this summer. Then I'll be back to playing with my various bikes, and hopefully I'll finish the V4 before I go totally senile.

Thanks for the update - look forward to any new pics you might have - even if they don't show us progress..
It gives us something to aspire to...
