Re: Rhory's rides and projects .
one thing i was always going to change was the exhaust,in time id like to source a system from japan but until then ill be happy with just
a bolt on can.
unfortunately i stuggled to find one listed for the bike outside of japan and i thought a cbr400 can might find but i wasn't sure if it was going to be a gullarm or a triarm , enter Powertech Performance exhausts, i sent them a picture of the can and the shape of the inlet and he told me it looked like a gullarm would fit.
so christmas came early for me and this arrived at the start of the week. a custom lenght stainless steel
a bolt on can.

Re: Royster81's rides and projects .
With getting the powertech exhaust so late in the year i hadn't really got riding the bike to hear the can and having the bike idling in the garage wasn't enough for me so the first chance i could get to get it out for a run i was taking it, valentines day or not !
First thing i notice is the bike feels smoother and freer in the mid range, i thought it felt as if the bike was getting held back a bit just before the vtec kicks in at 6750rpm but now it loves to rev, and secondly ,now you can hear the note change and it sounds awesome.
I took a camera out and took some pictures.
seaforde tropical butterfly farm, i could have done with the heat today.

First of all, lovely NC39 Rory, congrats.
Once changing to a freer endcan a little leaness in the mids and highs is to be expected, that might explain the 'hesitation' you felt. The valvetrain on these Vtecs is very costly to maintain and replace if damage occurs so I'd sort out jetting first thing.
Or wait till you grab hold of a full JDM Ti system.

Reference the jetting, I had planned on getting a run on a drum to see what's going on but shortly after I bought mine a member and friend tarlowb off here bought the same end can for his bike. He got talking to powertech and they said there shouldn't be a need to rejet since it's only a can.
Today I rang them just to clarify, not that I don't believe it but more I wanted to hear for myself, and he said in his experience the 400s typically run a little rich in the UK and that since it's only a can and I wanted mine 450mm long there shouldn't be a need for a rejet.
So with that I'll not rejet mine until I get the funds together got this...
