CRM's NC30 project - codename EXON VALDEZ

Post by CRM » Sun Aug 09, 2009 5:51 pm

Purchased said piece of shit from a localish chap with the intention of building a bike i can use on those not so nice days, not worry about scratching or getting damaged, and just enjoy riding regardless of what it looks like.
Found this piece of shit from a guy on here advertised as an abandoned project, no time to finish, you know the score. However its certainly been used and used in anger and bodged no end. Infact someone must have been an iron monger as the bolts were from some random shelf, to long, infact so bodged the only redeeming feature is the fact the engine cases appear untouched so no monkeys been inside it hopefully. No V5, never registered so needs a frame then.
took a chance and had it collected blind and for the vast sum of £300 stirling (at todays exchange rate to the euro that will be fuck all then) and i thought "a NC30 for 300 quid, got to be worth a chance"

So bike was dropped off and i started to go through it trying to get a list together of whats needed.
Within 5 mins i quickly worked out to mark out what was useable which was quicker.

Bodywork and tank = scrap
rearsets = scrap
pedals = scrap
clocks = scrap
left hand clipon and all switchgear = scrap
headlamps = scrap
loom = scrap
battery = scrap
lockset = scrap
Hub = scrap
Levers = scrap
Carbs = proper fucked
Rads = go on have a guess
All fairing mounts and brackets = missing

Frame = sourced
Swingarm = useable
Shock = got a maxton
Forks = got a set
Engine = its there
Exhaust = got a yamamoto
Rads = got a spare set
Wheels = Got a set with tyres
Chain and sprockets = need
Bodykit = got almost a full 89 RWB need V panel and mudgaurd
Lockset = need
Battery = Need

So after finally looking at it for 5 weeks and realising it aint going to build itself, i today started to strip the POS and evict the spider colony from under the seat unit.

So here it is, next free day i get will be to remove the engine and clean it before putting in the new frame.

Spike, pauls taking some of the C&S so i'll let you know what he doesnt take, theres basically 2 complete sets there, one geared low, tops out in 6th at brands and the other is standard or maybe a little down geared, i still have to check
The first is obviously used but plenty of life in it and the second is new

Only other NC30 i have left now is the UK one which will be stripped, cleaned and fitted with the all new old stock bodywork, then fit whats left over onto this.
I may actually end up selling the UK one, i will see after putting it back to standard with the carbs and pipe and stick it on the great bay of shite and after seeing what some of the scrap on there has made i am confident this will fetch a pretty penny perhaps

lol, you know what ,the disks are actually pretty good, calipers are in need of some TLC and the brake fluid looks like chip fat but all present and correct.
disk bolts - thats another story
