Just a bit of bling tartness but does anyone have any recommendatiions regarding a steering damper? I'm perfectly happy with how the machine handles, I just like the idea of it looking cooler. Pathetic I know..

if you scroll about halfway down there's a NC30 with a NHK damper on it I believe, it shows how it mounts too, and a nice gold one would rock with those wheels... I wonder if one of those compact Scotts dampers could be made to work, Fu#in expensive but they do look the best... and they're gold.

Oooohh.. When I get back from holiday! I think it'd be a nice classy addition to the bike..

Talking of the bike, it's thrown me a curve ball today. I dragged it out, put the key in, turned the ignition on and pulled the choke lever and pressed the start button. Quarter of a turn and it all locks up. I'm thinking has it dropped a valve'?, has a spark plug core dropped in??? Aaarrgghh.. I whipped the side panels off and decided to pull the clutch cover for further inspection. Luckilly all was well inside with nothing wedged or caught up in the crank assy. I tried to turn the engine on a spanner and it refused to move forward but turned backwards freely. This is where it showed it's problem and gargled horriibly like a monster.

Looks like I've experienced a hydra-lock due to a dodgy float valve. Plugs out, spin it over to clear the dodgy cylinder (front left) and rebuild. Luckilly the bike fired first time without issue. I'm gonna have to start turnng the fuel off when not in use for now and in the none-too distant future, pull the carbs and renew the float valves.

As a foot note, I checked the oil whilst the cover was off and it appeared to be petrol free.



Bike is disgrace earlier this afternoon..

Just as an on going record, the bike has done nearly 1000Km (and passed through 43000Km on the clock too) since it was rebuit and is running well. Once it passes the 1000Km mark, I'll change it's oil and filter and inspect just to make sure but hasn't used any oil, thrown / used any water or experienced any drama since the above incident so I figure it's in good order..

Thanks, although I couldn't tell you what the speciific colour is as I don't know. The chappy showed me a couple of samples and then a couple of pictures on his phone of his mates car wheels that had been done a diifferent gold. I picked the colour on his phone. The closest I can describe is they look like the colour of 'real' gold, like you might see on the TV before they polish it up..

Gave it a new year present last week - a replacement seat as the old one had tape holding it together..

Yesterday I had a very enjoyable ride to the cafe on the A41 (Raven) in the company of a few friends and the Mrs. The NC was by far the smallest machine as everyone else was on 800 to 1200cc machines but in typical form, it more than held it's own (as it always seems to somehow) against the bigger more powerful bikes. Naturally, I took the twistiest route as I was leading the pack and the bike just rolled in and out of the corners without fuss or drama despite the elevated pace.

There were no other NC30s (or any 400s for that matter) on the car park or that I'd seen out on the roads. Sometimes there's a reasonably tidy jap-spec white blue and red type 3 / number 4 bike there but I always seem to miss it arrive or leave.

All in all, after more than six months and nearly 1500 KM, the bike has been pretty much rock solid with minimal drama and next to no running issues other than whats documented here on this thread. Bring on that Nurburgring trip, the FJ can sit this one out!
