With Christmas done and dusted by 3 o clock today I got some more stuff done to the bike.
Oil and filter change, where I unfortunately blocked the hole in my oil can with the sump bolt and quite a bit of oil went on the garage floor
Plus I fitted my GSXR alternator conversion before re-filling the oil![ ](./images/smilies/happy-thumb-up-044.gif)

After oil was drained and filter changed I got the bike into sixth and took off the alternator cover, which had no gasket, just a huge dollop of sealant
![Image](http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l603/oliverellwood/IMG_0406.jpg)
And then went to disconnect the stator wiring and found that I needed some wire cutters to do so
It looks like the entire charging systems blown/been messed about with before, because the reg/rec is a big aftermarket finned one, the stator/stator wiring has been changed/bodged and the battery I got the bike with was fucked.

After discovering that bodge it was onto getting the stator off. Absolute pig it was. Jammed the rear wheel with plenty of 2x1, had the bike in 6th and stood one foot on the rear brake one on the floor with the bike on it's side stand and went at it with my breaker bar.
Luckily it came off without needing heating etc.

Then got my huge bolt to wind the flywheel off with to find that I didn't have a spanner that fit it.......but Dad's plumbing box came to the rescue

Stator came off easily. Anyone else notice that the whole alternator arrangement smells a bit funny?
![Image](http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l603/oliverellwood/IMG_0410.jpg)
Replaced the heavy as flywheel with the new lightweight GSXR one
![Image](http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l603/oliverellwood/IMG_0411.jpg)
Then on with the gasket and cover etc, where I learnt that without a bit of gasket goo to hold the gasket in place, gaskets are a pain in the arse to get on flat and proper.....
![Image](http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l603/oliverellwood/IMG_0412.jpg)
Then I routed the generator writing up the left hand side of the bike using a 3 pin plug I had previously for the rear brake light I made, and taped up the loom where the wiring went originally.

That's tonight's work done and I've stuck the bike onto my new headstock stand ready for tomorrow when I'll be stripping it down to get the valve clearances done and take the carbs apart for inspecting and sorting

Plus a couple of whoring pictures
