Yep, looking forward to hearing your feedback on the linkage/BMW shock combo.

Any chance you could measure the length between the bolts on the HRC linkage? I picked up an adjustable one and have no clue what length to set it at.

Re: RVF RT Suzuka build
The pull arm is longer at 127mm, the info i have states thats for a shock length of 310mm. The tri link is also very different but i have'nt the measurements for that. The tri link could be made reasonably cheap but this CNC'd one is very nicely done.

Fitted up it gives tons more clearance than the stock linkage, i could just about get a fag paper between the pipes and the stock link.

Plugs, filters done and my shiny chinese rads fitted.

Oh man, I didn't realize there was a different tri link. Will add that to the wish list
Thanks for that measurement.

Those linkages look like a lovely bit of kit.

Re: RVF RT Suzuka build
I ordered a new softer 600lbs spring but the rear end still feels very stiff to the point i can hardy depress the suspension by pushing down the rear at all, i have another NC i have here with a hagon shock which depresses very easily compared. TBH the 600 lbs spring is a tad to stiff for me but i expected the suspension to be softer than it is, the shock isnt seized as i used it on a NC with a stock linkage and it was way too soft.

Looks nice and spangly with a new spring though

Also had a crack at recovering an old seat, easier than i thought but you do need a heafty staple gun

For comparison, I just had a look on the Racetech site which lists the stock s1000rr shock spring rate as 476 lb/in (8.5 kg/mm) for comparison. Something around this rate would probably be more suitable.Drunkn Munky wrote:TBH the 600 lbs spring is a tad to stiff for me but i expected the suspension to be softer than it is, the shock isnt seized as i used it on a NC with a stock linkage and it was way too soft.

What you're seeing would support the theory that the hrc tri link is suited to the spring rates of most modern bikes (and not the very high spring rate of the standard nc30 shock/linkage combo).
Great build!

That's interesting the info I found said the stock BMW spring is 600lbs, I'm not sure where that was tho. You are right though 8.5kg was what I originally had planned for it but somehow messed up the conversion to lbs and ordered a 600lbs.

I am looking forward to you actually test riding this to see if I'll buy this myself!

Cleaned and reset the carbs today, removed the budukan (i think) jet/needle kit as the 107 main was never going to be enough for a full system. Replaced with stock needles, 1mm washer and 112's all round. The needle holders also had a small rubber washer inside preventing the needle from pushing on the spring, no idea weather this was part of the kit or some numbnut had put them there.

HRC's sprocket cover and water pump cover finished and plumbed in

Another small issue has presented itself,

The race front pipes not only stop you fitting a rad fan but they get in the way of the oil filter, even a shortened one. Only way i can see to fit it is to fit the down pipe after the filter
