Still dead as a dodo :( It clearly cranks harder and faster hooked up to the van battery but nothing, it doesnt even attempt to start even with some easy start. Pulled the plugs and they look dry as a bone even after plenty of cranking so can only assume its fuel related now but the carbs are spotless i made sure of that.

Is the fuel tap working ok?

Is there fuel in the bowls? Sticking float needles?

Did you do the fuel levels as in your other post ?
If all plugs are dry you need to raise them .

Running off a auxiliary tank at the moment and yes the float bowls are getting fuel, I drained 50ml from each bowl.
Not checked the float heights yet im picking some clear tube up this afternoon but wont get a chance to work on it again till tomorrow now.

Top tip; clear battery breather pipe will suffice in an emergency.
Aquarist shops and B&Q sell clear hose.

Thought id test the new coils and leads and didnt get very good results,

Primary coil resistance on both coils = 2.4, 3TJ manual specs 1.8 - 2.2. I take it that isnt good?

The only other test i could do due to the leads being pre fitted with cap was to test from the cap end to the end of the lead

Have you raised the fuel levels yet ?

I thought you very brave to spend that sort of money on a set of coils that give no advantage in a std. tuned engine,
specially on a bike you have up for sale. You cannot get the money back.

The crimp can be undone to see why there is no continuity.

No off to do the fuel level in a min, just been out to borrow another multimeter to rule out mine giving wrong readings but its not, the coils give 2.4 ohm's of resistance when they should be 2.2.

Im not keen on buying 2nd hand when it comes to parts that from time to time need replacing and with the luck ive had with this bike for example the 2nd hand airbox with rock hard rubbers and the carbs that lived at the bottom of the ocean id rather just buy new and with new OEM plug caps coming in at £160 compared to £180 for the dynacoil kit is a no brainer IMO, Im not interested in getting any advantage from them just piece of mind that they work. Ive had no interest in selling the bike and to be honest im not surprised i wouldn't be keen on buying a bike that does not start either so the less time i spend messing about with 2nd hand parts that may or may not work the better.

Ive already removed the crimp from the HT lead that gave no resistance and tested again but still no reading.

The Dynacoils are not guaranteed to have the same resistance as those quoted for the Yamaha item.
The difference in readings is infinitesimal.

I know what you mean on used parts reliability.
The problem is; new aftermarket are often no better, as you have just found with the leads.

The lead is either broken internally or not fitted correctly at the plug end.
Sending back for a refund/replacement is going to waste even more time; nee the wonder you are pissed off with that bike !

I would have persevered with the old coils and caps but I don't like being beat by things like that.
We have to make do and mend here at present.

So the 0.2 difference is nothing to worry about then?

I just think its yamaha's lol, had nowt but grief from the 2 FZR's ive had. The TZR i had many moons ago wasn't much better either.

Fuel levels done,

1, 21.5mm
2, 29mm
3. 33mm
4. 31mm

So all but cylinder 1 is a far bit out yet when i measure the float heights there all exactly the same :? Anyone got a match?
