GK76a SP CDI

Have a GK76a which I believe has been fitted with an SP motor & carbs. It starts and runs fine, and revs freely in neutral (above 8k). On a 10 mile test ride it pulls really strong up to 8k revs, then fluffs and won't rev any higher in any gear. Somebody who is into these suggested the cause is the wrong CDI, as they are different.

I've tried looking for an SP one but no luck. Does anyone know where I can source one or even borrow one to try?

Anyone experienced similar or any ideas what is going on?

Cheers

It is possible but that being said you have to match the reluctor(sp) to the the CID so that maybe the problem. I am sure there are people in the UK that mod them. Let us know what the # are on the unit- eg. 32900-XXXXX Someone with a parts book can tell you.

The SP motor will need the SP CDI, it's different to the standard GK76a one.

Ok, cheers. I assume that is correct for SP.

Any ideas where I can source one from?

Yes it is.

As far as sourcing one, rocking horse poop. Unless you can find someone who still races them or a collector who may have a spare.

Alternatively, a standard GK76a one is about the only other option. 32900-10D30.

Thanks for your help.
I think I can borrow a std unit, so will give that a try.
I wonder what the difference is? I guess it's the SP has a throttle position sensor input
