150/60/17 tyres for track

Post by chutney » Tue May 11, 2021 12:15 am

Would running 150/60 on a little gixxer be a good idea or has anyone used this size as finding a nice grippy track tyre in 160/60 these days that’s a reasonable price is getting very hard, I’m not a slick tyre guy as only just getting Upto speed on track

If it's any help I have Pirelli Rosso Corsa II on the Foxeye, 160/60R17 rear size. Excellent wet or dry. I've used them in various sizes on track bikes. In fact, apart from the Hornet, all my bikes run Pirelli and have done for years.

150 supercorsa is around 8mm lower iirc than the 160, so if ride height is an issue, stay with the 160. If you don't weigh too much look at the conti attack sm tyre ( h rated, lightweight carcass).
If you're bigger like me, stay with a zr, race attacks are brilliant in soft/medium compound.
Pirelli sc's are £420 a pair atm!
