GK76 downpipe removal, repair and paint
Hi all,
Sharing new content today, related to the downpipe. The objective is to change the gaskets and paint with high temperature paint since it is in good conditions:

http://400cc.fr/wp-content/uploads/2021 ... scaled.jpg
I needed to remove the radiator (and drain the coolant of course, but I had also to test and replace the water temp sensor, so it's cool ), and use a long 6mm allen wrench.
There is a bolt also under the engine (12mm hex bolt).
I sanded manually the downpipe so it is quite clean, not too much rust and no hole. I will go for painting when there is less wind outside
After painting, i will heat as required by the high temperature with a heat gun to make the paint harden (this is what it is written on the spray bottle...)
But one question : I have a small piece of metal that went out of the pipe (output) and when i shake the downpipe, it rings the bells You can see the small piece of metal on the above pictures, and probably inside there are some other loose pieces.
Here is a picture on the inside of the ouput, we can see the baffle, seems in one piece, so it is probably deeper where things are going wrong...

Has anybody already managed to remove / to cut this baffle ? I just want to avoid metal pieces dancing in the pipe
Thanks all

After high temp resistant paint:

Ready for heat gun tomorrow
Update: not working with heat gun, i need to find a kind of ceramic furnace to be able to put the whole downpipe @ 160°C... I will find this next week

Re: GK76 downpipe removal, repair and paint
Just some news from the downpipe: I put in the pottery kiln of my son pottery teacher (it looked like this https://kilns.pro/74-cubic-liters-top-l ... ble-1240c/) and it has been cooked during 60min @160deg ! I gave a tip to her and that's it! The color did not change, still mat black, I hope it will last long...

Picture after installation with new original gaskets (had to remove the radiator of course, so I cleaned everything before mounting). I kept the used allen bolts, 1 or 2 a bit rusty but threads are still very good condition.

Good job and that's a very clean looking engine. I'm impressed.
