1993 Generator

Post by bluesmokeracer » Fri Sep 28, 2018 12:21 pm

Does anyone have the resistance stats for checking the Generator coils?

My lad broke down this week - AA man reckoned duff generator as only putting out 11v across the battery and the lights were super dim.

I've purchased a working generator and a new regulator/rectifier - but the generator flywheel is a dog to get off even with a three way harmonic puller - it's mashed the end of the puller!

So, it might be easier to check the generator output with the multimeter and change the regulator rather than pull the flywheel off!

Thanks

measure between each yellow wire, it should be only an ohm or 2. Then check from yellow to earth, should be infinite resistance(O/L).
You need to use a proper puller tool, not the harmonic puller. They come off with a real bang. Make sure you use hardened m8 bolts to pull the rotor off.
Check you have a proper + and - connection to the reg/rec.

Should be straightforward to troubleshoot.
