Hi guys,
I got a gk76a last summer after passing my license, used it for a few months then noticed it was burning a bit of oil so decided to have a look and see why. I found the valve clearances to be very tight and think that is why... anyway long story short, I've broken the engine down and rebuilt it and now it won't start. All I keep getting is a pop in the exhaust and in the carbs. So I'm guessing the timing is off. Anyone know how I can check if the timing is correct or has been played with as I've set the timing using the 20 links etc...

Any help will be much appreciated, I'm at the end of my tether with this bike now...

You sure you got the plug caps on the correct plugs?
Get then wrong and you get same problem.

pretty sure left coil 1/4 right coil 2/3.

i know its silly but have you touched behind the clocks at all? i had a problem when i rebuilt my engine as that the wire from one of the coils goes beind the clocks and i got it mixed up. swapped it over and started

The only thing I've done behind the clocks is disconnect the headlight to save the battery whilst trying to start.thanks for the suggestions tho. I'd just like to rule out the timing as being the problem, anyone know timing spec for sure?

I used the Workshop manual for the bandit 400 when i rebuilt the engine, worked fine for me, i made a topic like this awhile back.

I've been using the gsf 400 manual as I'm lead to believe its the same...?. Do you have a link to the manual you're using?

Im not sure if the 76a uses the same settings as the B4 for cam setup.
